While I'm waiting on parts for the rear suspension I went ahead and pulled the front dave cage out of the old sammy and added some new braces, grab handles, etc and put it in the new sammy.

Here's the little grab handle/braces I added. I had to move the outer bars in a little further than they are usually mounted because I have a removable hard-top on this sammy and the mounts are in the corners of the windshield and targa bar.

Here's the top rear. I notched and ran the outer bars under the rear loop in hopes of adding some strength to the welds and to eliminate needing to add little braces. Anybody think I should go ahead and add little triangle braces too? How about the two middle bars, should I brace them?

DSI: Thanks alot. I really like the way your buggy is turning out too. I definately want to come up and run Naches or somewhere with you and Dan sometime this summer.

Looks good I would like to here some thoughts on the way you tied your side bars into the rear. I like it is that all 1-1/2" tube

Rockrat:
The tubing is 1.5". Are you talking about the side bars on the top of the cage or on the one on the passenger side bottom? I'll assume the top. The reason I tied the side bars into the rear like that was mostly for necessity. Because of the hard top I have for this sammy, I had to move the bars inward 2" and also down a touch lower. So, I decided to try something a little different and just notched the bar about 1/2" from the end and half way down so that it sits snuggly onto the rear loop. I was thinking this would provide more strength rather than just butt-welding it like the center bars are. I may go ahead and add some little braces too. Since the bars were moved inward I had more room to make the little grab bars on the front, and they also help brace them.

Rattlecan all the way!! Rustoleum metallic blue from Wal-Mart for $3.94. The metallic color is pretty cool, I used green on my old sammy.
