Well I just recently got into the 4x4 world and here is what I am playing with. I picked up my 1986 Ranger stx for $400 and had to install a windshield and the driver door glass asap, as the former owner put it on her side being retarded. Oh and the stock wheels and small tires had to go so I have some 31x10.5x15 Firestone Destinations on practical black daytonas. And I had a new muffler installed as the old flowmaster looked like it was shot at with a shotgun...lol.

So other than some scraped up metal and a few dents she is good to go. In fact I took her out saturday up to Elbe(Wahington) and drove around for a bit to try to get used to the whole 4x4 thing. WOW!! I love 4x4 and low range is awsome! So Hope to get out ALOT more before I go back to iraq in November again :(

Was 6" skyjacker lift Now its on the chopping block for straight axle swap d44/ 9" 5.13's and 37x14x15 IROK's... O yea theres going to be a bit of fender hacking......

If you do get a full sized truck, don't put stacks on a crew cab truck. It just looks funny. Otherwise if it's just a single cab, go for it. It gives the truck a much meaner look, and it gives it a very distinct sound.

I'll find somemore. No locker in front due to the terrain we run, the idea that this is a family rig and repairing broken shafts or joints etc on a family outing is no fun, and the powerlock when set up right does very well. This one has just broken in and needs a clutch pack restack. I bought it from Randys and left it alone to see how it would do. It did fine for awhile, but now needs the magic touch. Selectables are nice, but expensive and when you're out 45 miles from the nearest road, let alone phone reception, having a dead simple reliable rig has it's advantages.

Here's mine just before my last run. She now has some nice bent sheet metal but that's something that'll happen MUCH more as time goes on. I'm putting a hp d44 and 9" in it with some 35" meats...hopefully less than 6"s of suspension lift total by the time i'm through. She's still pretty mild but can still be somewhat fun :)

check the new toy !! i picked this up last week from the local junkyard - drove it home for 500 bucks !!

6" of lift, 400 motor, stock d44/9", 38.5" tires.
i put new plugs and wires in it and it runs good now.

94 sploder, 6in skyjacker classII lift. Soon to be SAS with axles from 76 bronco. Also gonna use the C4/D20 out of it. Just have to get the army to let me outta alaska.

Here's some before and after pics of my truck. 1995 F-150 started as a 2wd, it's now 4x4, completely rebuilt '79 HP 44 front & 9" rear, 4.56 gears, 4 wheel disc brakes, 37x12.50 Super Swamper SSR's, 302 and rebuit AOD-E (had to convert it to 4x4, so put a rebuild kit in it while I was in there), Dual shocks on front with custom shock hoop & Rancho 5000's all the way around, Warn M12000, Warn Bumper and Brush Guard, KC Daylighters. Lift was piece together as I went so I know there is 8" in the rear and probaly about the same in the front (moved the coil buckets down so I'm not quite sure. Took me about 9 months to finish but I did all the work, not too bad for a high school senior year project I would say.

Here is the far from finished Explorer of mine with full width D44 and 9" and 35x15.50x15 Super Swamper TSL SX's.

I decided to take the explorer out after work today just to see how she flexed. I was impressed! No tire rubbing at all. That 4' high culvert was a piece of cake in two wheel drive.. it just went right up. My explorer stock would get stuck either by high centering or by dragging the rear bumper or both.

Its also nice and soft too.. and goes down the road pretty well. I still have lots of things to sort out yet as far as road manners, but its a good start!

'68 200 inline six block, 0.040" over, balanced, stock internals except ARP fasteners, head milled to accept directly mounted 2V holley 350 cfm, SS oversized valves, 3 angle, mild port and polish, 289cid valve springs, one piece retainers form a 4.0 V6, DSII ignition...Oh yeah, and a garret t3 "super 60" turbocharger.

No shit sherlock. Was only to move it around and get it into storage. Plus, holes are drilled through the spring plates and the u-bolts are welded to the spring plates. they arent going anywhere.

what the hell is the reason for that? u bolts are spring steel, the spring plates are not?

This is my 87 bronco II. Its has a 5.0L to a AODE to a BW 1356 that has had its front input side cut off and custom adaptor hooked to a NP 205 for a 5 to 1 crawl ratio. It runs on one ton axles out of a f350 dana 60 front and sterling 10.25 rear that has been shaven both welded. Air bagged front with full hydro. On 44 tsl's with 4 inches of suspension lift and two body

I need a bigger rock in the yard...when Im flexin the rear..the driver front it totaly compressed...but the pass side is about 1in from max..

when Im flexing the front the rear has about 2in before the pass side is at full compression..and the driver side is about 2in from max droop..
