Picked this up for a grand a few months back. Working on small body stuff now (went from red to black and fixed some rust spots). Redid the interior first. After that going to get some bumpers and recovery points so that I can see what she will do.

Good, no broken parts yet. We dont hammer on the throttle all that much, as you would for mud bog comp. Use the rigs for more of exploration and such. Stock parts are easy to come by for these trucks because of all the Slope trucks. I do have 35 spline Chromo outers though and drive flanges.

Here is Joe's Truggy. I built the bumper for him while he was deployed overseas and a bunch of other club members helped put gears, lockers, winch, hydro assist and other PM also on the truck for him while he was deployed. He came home to a transformed truck. It had 42" TSL's and open 4:10s in it before he left. He was pretty stoked when he got back this month!!:smokin:

A little history:

The Willys MB US Army Jeep, along with the nearly identical Ford GPW, was manufactured from 1941 to 1945. They are considered the iconic World War II Jeep. Over the years, the World War II Jeep later evolved into "CJ" civilian Jeep and has been recognized as a symbol of rugged individualism in twentieth century American History.

Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy-company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler (1916–2002) is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration.

I'll give you credit for those two vehicles posted above are chrysler version of what they would call a jeep. So was it the chicken or the egg? Well in this case it was the jeep then the barbie! Sometimes you have to look down the family tree!:flipoff2:LOL

It was a joke dude. I was given him shit cause he posted a jeep in the ford forum. I actually like jeeps.

Well...only thing left to do for the running gear swap is break in the gears and build a front drive line. Ranger is a 93 3.0l 5 speed all stock for now. Running gear is a hp44 and dana 61 rear both 3/4 ton from a 79 f250. Now i'll move on to the body armor end of things!

Front shackles suck. Springs deflecting into object being climbed doesn't work as well as the other way around. Should have run a flatter spring and shorter shackle in the rear with longer hanger in the front.

Actually, that there is a '73-'77 F250 Highboy. And there are a couple ways you can tell it is not a 78 or 78.

First, on the very front of the hood on a 78-79 there would be the letters F-O-R-D, yours does not have the letters or any little holes where the letters used to be. (But someone could have swapped the hood out for an older one.)
Second, the whole front grille assembly is from '73-'77 obviously. Yeah if it was a 78-79 someone could have swapped it out for the older split grill, but in this case i believe it is original.
Third, you have the old style BIG spicer hubs which came only on the 73-77 F250 4x4 Highboys.
And lastly, there is the dead give-away. In the picture of your truck sitting basically on top of that little red truck, you can see your NP205 Divorced Transfer case. And the divorced transfer cases ONLY came in one ford truck, which was the Highboy.

So congradulations, you more than likely, have a factory highboy!

Here is a couple pictures of mine in the process of my build. It is going up 6" higher, and i've got MRW beadlocks and boggers going on.

I'm to the pointthat I have absolutely no idea what the truck really is lol

There are holes in the hood for the ford emblem but the underside is not the same color as the inside of the cab. According to the vin on the cab it's a 77. So i have no idea.

I'm to the pointthat I have absolutely no idea what the truck really is lol

There are holes in the hood for the ford emblem but the underside is not the same color as the inside of the cab. According to the vin on the cab it's a 77. So i have no idea.

You have a hi-boy, the front axle divorced t-case really tell the truth.

Here is my buddies hi-boy, posting this for him.

It has a built 400 with a 4 speed. The engine has flat top pistons, comp 262H, scorpion 1.73 roller rockers, and a 4 barrel and headers. It's a real nice running truck.

Pato, the Ranger is looking GREAT! I am looking to do something VERY similar to my Ranger. Not going with the 8 lug axles and as big of a tire, but shortening the bed and running full width axles

My new 69 Ford F250 highboy with a 300/NP435 that I traded my 70 Ford100 for. I'm working on making a lift for it out of some leaf springs that I had on my 72 Camper Special and putting a single stack on it.

some changes in the near future should make up for any traction or floatation short comings though...

It is a bit controversial… personally I enjoy coming up with comments when people ask what the hell is that. Ie….. my bronco’s got a woodie….. that’s how I hang it up to dry after I wash it….etc. my thinking behind why its so tall is I will hook my snatch block to it and pull deer up to take them to the house. This way I won’t have to bloody up the back end. Plus I think its cool.

Alright function over fashion I'm cool with that.

nobodyspecial
07-19-2010, 09:07 AM
Still has the IFS, only because I just replaced the bearings up front and didn't feel like throwing away new parts. If I ever lift it higher, I will lose the IFS, but I have too many other projects going right now. Since its not a rock crawler, the IFS is fine for the duty this truck sees.

The first 4 is how it currently sits. Its been through some changes over the years as you can see by bumpers and winches and different bodies. I'm thinking of starting a build thread on it someday soon as it is in its final days of completion. I have lots of pics in detail of tons of random stuff as I went along.
