My $600 '89 Bronco. I had to take the driver seat apart and weld the frame, fix the seat belt retractor, and replace the ignition module inside the distributor. I pulled the air dam off under the bumper and bolted up a pair of tow hooks off a '97 F150. Future plans involve doing whatever I can afford:D... and getting rid of the rust!

Heres the 1st truck I ever owned..Had it for 15 years & all of the running gear is in my 79 Bronco... Thrashed it hard, never broke anything major.. I think 1 axle joint & 2 or 3 rear shaft joints because of never greasing them or checking them & they broke on the road...

76 F-150,4 inch suspension,3 body,rest pretty much stock,460,C-6,205,9 inch,D-44,38s...

Rig still looking Zach. You ever get the bugs worked out?

yeah i got the Tcases to shift correctly and the engine is running great, doesnt get to hot now that the radiator is in the rear and i fixed most of the steering issues with full hydro.

I still have some steering issues though and i also have these things to do

get heat in the cab (its cold) lol
little more cage work
change to 4 link up front
rebuild transmission

unfortunately im in the process of buying a house and getting married. no funds for this thing at the moment.

Nope, that is still TTB.

At this point I have extended Radius Arms with ballistic joints, cut and turned beams, f-250 shock mounts so I can run longer front shocks and other mods. It still only about 5" of lift.. Just enough to clear the tires with help of a sawzall.

Its getting there.. I'm to the point where the only issue I really feel is being too short (need 35's) and I really need to put a cage there, and rock sliders. The metal along the side is getting really banged up..

The 700r4 in there is still working, but I lost engine braking 2 years ago (we think I broke a sprag). I've got about 90k miles on that trans. The pressures are still decent. I've lost 10% of pressure since it was new but otherwise its working well. I'm "hoping" to get that pulled out and fixed this off-season (summer).

No really cool plans for this one. It's going to be a pavement princess/light wheeler. It'll get some lift, some 38's, some more power, and a little bit of tube. If I start a thread, it won't be till I dig into the suspension.

negative batman. grand prix rvt's. half gumbo/half hawg old school knock off. great tire for my application. wear good like hawgs too, had them on old rigs and love them for a wheeler/hauler. 38.5''s but measure out at 37''ish. here's a tread shot.

flicker or photobucket is the easiest unless you man the fuck up and pay for a star :flipoff2:

p.s. 73, i do have a groover, but i street drive probably 60+% of the time and when the local 4x jambo rolls around i'd have to bump up a few classes even if i just siped the tires, so stock tread it is.

Well damnit make one!! Lol

I want to see how this thing evolved!!

started out life as an EB, chopped frame, rebuilt drivetrain/driveline, slapped the ranger body on, did some amature tube work/welding and suspension, rear mount rad/batteries, beer keg for fuel tank, fox air shocks, few neat things along the way. was my first build, mabey ill post up some pics when i get around to round 2. its something different if nothing else....

Started out as a 77 F-150 supercab 2wd, I put some 99 Superduty axles under it. I re used the Superduty power booster, master cylinder, steering box, and all the brake lines. Super easy build! Has a 400/C6/208. Eventually gonna chop it up, but I will daily drive for a while!

brug33 What did you do for suspension, just use a leaf set up from a 4wd truck? Ive got a 77 250 2wd and thats giving me terrible ideas.

I used the super duty leafs and shackles, it's around 4" wider than the 77. Had to get creative with the frame. I'll post up some pics!

Figured since I'll be lurking around these forums absorbing a bunch of information, I'd introduce myself. I'm new to trucks/4x4's in general, though I've been around the car scene for the better part of 2 decades. Started racing a Honda CRX in autocross competitions before moving to VW's & Porsches. Got my first Mustang 3 years ago, and replaced that foxbody with the current SVT. With the pending purchase of a house, I started looking for a truck to act as a workhorse during the move and subsequent house renovations. Last night I picked up a '73 F-250 4x4. Needs some work, but it'll get the job done. 390 FE, 4spd manual. Lumber rack was a bonus that will come in handy.

Found out about this site from a couple guys posting thread links at Garage Journal.

And the prerequisite pic:

Its a 4.9l, 5 speed. I picked up a zf5 transmission to put it in also. I put the 6 inch lift in, the back looks sagged due to bad shackles. Still have to pull out the dent in the side, and re gear the front and back axles. Its the daily driver for now.

personally i like a clean vehicle with little functional details. i try to shy away from the blingy doodads.

this is a good place to learn how to build a very capable offroad rig. lots of sweet ranger builds on here that i would suggest you start looking at. like flipits, jtr's, whiterhino's, josh40601 had a good one until he put the gangbanger wheels on it:flipoff2:.

Lose the body lift, the wannabe stinger, flip the steering to be above the knuckle, redo the sliders, and then I would like it.

Right now, it's in "keep your mouth shut if you don't have anything nice to say" category. So I gave you some advice :flipoff2:

You pretty much nailed it :flipoff2: The sliders are getting cut off and redone. Original plan was to work them into a step also for a roof rack, but that was before chopped the top.

The bumper I don't mind so much, but would rather a plate bumper with winch mount. The steering is a concern, but not high on the list of things when the rear still needs locked. The body lift stays :flipoff2: easier to work on my shit.

Your in medford right? Think I saw you driving a few days ago, I agree with josh, loose the body lift and cut the fenders

Central Point, yeah, but I work and go to college in Medford. As for cutting the fenders, did you not look at the front? They are cut way the hell out  I need to do a bit of trimming on the rears though.

Also, to flip my steering to on top of the knuckle I have to re-ream the holes right, its not just a flip and bolt it thing?

Ruff stuff makes inserts -> http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/INSSTEER.html and a kit http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/YLINK.html which is the avenue i will be taking on the rebuild of the front axle on my truck.

Mines flipped and I have bent mine. I'm not the worse driver on the planet, just can't see shit sometimes. I also drive VERY slow. I'd make them a little higher on the list.

How are the sliders welded on the frame? With as far as they stick out and as close to the body as they are, they look like they would cause more damage than protect.

The lower part of the bumper isn't bad, just the triangle on top is. Lose the triangle, cut a section out of the center, add a universal winch plate, and call it good until you can afford the plate bumper one you want.

..

The sliders are not my most shining achievement, lets leave it at that :shaking: They do work pretty decent though, I've pivoted the whole rig on the drivers side one across the top of a rock. With those ruffstuff drop in deals, I can just put my tie rod on top of the knuckle without drilling them eh? Shweet.

From what I have seen and read, you drill a 7/8" hole all the way through. Insert the sleeve, insert the tie rod end, and bolt the other side down. I will talk to Dan before doing it though just to make sure I am using them correctly.

Well the paint faired well, and now I have the reason to build the super cobra jet headed 514/521 for it. Got all the top end stuff bought. I love this truck, might not be the baddest truck around but it definitely is a wild ride. This is an old video of it.
