In process of building 350/TH350 for my 87 Wrangler and have been pondering what to do for a tranny cooler. I considerd buying a B&M or Permacool, but am not sure if those are large enought to use by themselves (w/o the one built into a radiator). Also, since my Jeep has A/C and I am wanting to use the compressor for an air compressor, I thought about using the condensor mounted in front of the radiator...it's fairly big, mounted pretty solidly, and already up front where a cooler would need to go. Anyone used one before for this?

I have done some research on this and a seperate cooler should work fine. I chose the 28,000 GVW B&M.
I would think that the stock A/C condenser would work just fine. I would add a tranny temp gauge so you can keep an eye on it.

Any ideas on how a condensor would work as a tranny cooler? Im doing an auto swap into my YJ right now, and as of now, Ive got a permacool cooler mounted onto my condensor. I too am planning on doing On Board Air using my stock AC compressor, so Im just curious as to how easy it would be to make the condensor the tranny cooler?

What ever you use for the cooler put its own seperate fan on it.
By the way you dont have to get rid of your air conditioner to set up air. Get another York pump, on board air has a bracket you can buy that allows for both to be mounted next to each other. They have a new pully that you mount on your altenator that allows the new york to run a seperate belt to it for power. That way you have the best of both worlds.
