Tonight on the way to work I left the gas station down the street very quickly, looked in my mirror and saw a cop on my tail. I floored it trying to make it to my work before he caught me. We have a remote operated gate:D Well he caught me just as I rounded the corner so I pulled over.

He came up and asked for my lincese, registration, and insurance. I gave him the first 2 and told him I didn't have insurance. He chewed my ass and went back to his car.

When he came back he handed me a ticket for no insurance, and said he would let the 58mph in a 40mph zone slide, and let me go on my way.

Now all I have to do is go to court and show them my insurance card and they will drop the whole thing, without even a court cost:flipoff2:

Someone told me about this a long time ago and I have done it at least 10 times, works every time!

That doesn't work in Ontario...
You still get a fine for "Failure to produce proper insurance" or some such thing.... You HAVE to have ownership and insurance in your vehicle at all times.
But, lucky you. ;)

You're not actually driving around with no insurance? So what happens when you get in an accident that's caused by you?

Buddha, i think he lied to the cop to get out of the speeding ticket, and actually HAS insurance. (At least i think so...)
He goes to court to contest the charge, says he just forgot it at home, and the judge dismisses it cause he is actually covered.
So, he ends up having to go to court, but doesn't get a ticket on his driving record, and doesn't have to pay any money.

Good plan for weaseling out of the situation.
;)

I've seen people show insurance from other vehicles in court to get their ticket reduced. I assumed that's what you were up to. I is uh idgit. :flipoff2: . So why didn't the cops ever gig you for speeding also?

They have never given me one for the speeding at the same time, because no insurance has jail time and a big fine so they think that will be enough.

Little do they know...

Even if they did give me one for speeding as well, I would be no worse off ...

THAT is pretty slick. No insurance up here is $450 fine I believe, but even if you bring in proof they only reduce it to a lower amount. If I tried that, knowing my luck, the cop would mace me and beat me with his night stick.:D

All I have to do is show the card and it all disappears! Not even a record that it happened. (thank God or they'd know I've burned them around 10 times!)

Holy shit I never realized this, but that happened to me. I got pulled over for expo of speed (tires spun when leaving a parking lot) when i was 16, cop saw my name wasent on the insurance, and he just chewed me out for 30 minutes, and gave me a ticket for no insurance (truck was covered, i was on the policy, but the truck was not covered on me as my normal driver... and the insurance co said i was 100% covered.. i dunno). Whatever, i paid $10.. and didnt get a ticket.

That wouldn't work here in Oregon. If you can't show proof of insurance, they impound the vehicle and write you a ticket.

Now, there's a Colorado Ticket Evasion Strategy that I need to keep in mind! Thanks Skull! :D

On the out skirts of Memphis they finger print you if you do not have insurance right there on the hood of the cop car.

in MN they give you a ticket, and you just have to mail a copy of your insurance within a week and you don't get the ticket.

Wouldn't work In GA any more. They just went Hi Tech. They can varify Insurance on the vehicle by the tag.
Come to think of it back when I was younger it did work before they went Hi Tech. I had insurance but didn't put the new card in my wallet. I got pulled over for something and he did just give me a no insurance ticket. I brought in my policy and valid card and walked out no problem.

I know this is an old thread, but fwiw..that shit doesn't just "disappear", it's still on your police record that anyone can get..just as "dismissed". I know because I had to spend hours at the meps station going over, writing statements, and waiting on waivers for all of the little bullshit "dismissed" traffic tickets I had forgotten about over the years...

If you have ins or not in MI, you get a ticket for failing to show proof of insurance.

It's the same way here.

A better plan would be to not drive like a dork. One time this WILL backfire on you.

I'd rather not have to show up to court (pain in the ass) and appear before a judge/magistrate, than try and weasel my way out of crap like that.

you lied to a cop?

Damn you bring up a thread that is 2 years old, what are you some kind of freaking stalker?

Yes I lied to a cop, done it many times, I'm sure I'll do it again if given the chance.

In colorado these do not show up as dismissed, I have done this a ton of times, and have seen my record, none of them are on there. They disappear like they never happened.

It works in Colorado, but in my state (NJ) failure to have either license, reg or insurance card, when you got to court the ticket is changed from failure to possess to have insurance/reg/drivers license to failure to exhibit upon demand, which is a smaller fine. Also, you think your pretty slick but .... either the same cop will get you again and remember your line of bullshit, you just fucked it up for the next guy who reallly did forget his license/reg/ins card and now gets a speeding ticket AND the credentials ticket, also there is something called Karma and respect. :) .

Your recruiter sucked....I would have had all of that done prior to you going to MEPS. Police checks from every town and county/parish that you lived in, cover all angles;)
