Just wanted to get some insight about the strength of the frame. I will be cutting the frame on the inside to make room for my clocked 205. Greg from Klune-V told me he welded a piece of angle on the outside to strenghten his. I'm not sure how much I need to cut since I haven't had it in yet. Just tought I throw this out there and see if anybody had done this here. I also heard that stacy did it to the "project crazy horse" for the atlas. Did anybody catch that?
Thanks, Jake

I'd notch one in a heartbeat if I had to. Weld on a piece of 2Xhowever tall the frame is on the outside first. Extend it past where you will be cutting out about 6" Then box your cut out and forget about it.

Why are you clocking the 205? Are you planning on running a full skid plate even with the frame?
Just wondering cause it doesn't seem worth the cutting, mine is only 2-2.5 below the frame and I still have tons of belly clearance.
Well if you do clock it higher I don't think you will have to notch much out of the frame and with added support I would guess it would be more than sufficient.

I am curious to know what tranny and how much lift you have? I would love to stick a klune between my C6 and 205 but with my lft I think the driveshaft angle might be too much. How long will your rear driveshaft be?

yes I want to run a fully flat skid plate on the underside. It has been a crusade of mine for several years now. I'm going to a four link front and rear to make better use of the flat underside...
I'll have a 26" long rear driveshaft with the klune in there. I had a factory length one before with the AOD. The AOD would have givien me a 22" driveshaft. THe C4 is 11.18" long the AOD is 13" and the C6 is listed at 20" acording to 4wd and sport utility.

Alright that sounds cool. A flat belly would be nice. Post buildup pics when you do the 4 links.
If you can't tell I'm jealous of the klune your putting in.:D, someday.....

I am not understanding this. So you have AOD/Klune/205 with a 26" DS?
What do you mena by the AOD would have given me a 22" DS?
How much lift do you have and did you stretch your wheelbase?
Also, a C4 is 11.18" and the AOD is 13"??????? Come AWN!!!!!?????????

yeah I agree with you on the stats being not representative of the overall length. But I wanted to use them as they were printed for whatever consistency because I'd never had a C6 along side an AOD or C4. But I do know for a fact that the C4 it's self is only 11" long. My AOD is gone and the C4 is still in the shop having the main shafts swapped.
I had a an AOD and sold it for a C4. To save the length. Plus the AOD wasn't doing me much good in a trail only rig. The Dana 300 adapter that I had to use on the C4 is also 1" shorter than the stock adapter, which I hadn't accounted for. It actually ended up being more money for the route I choose but If I ran a factory AOD 4WD adapter I would have had to run the 2.7 Klune. With the C4 and the Adapter I can run the 4.0 klune. Which is 2.34 x 4.0 x 2.0 x 4.88 = 91.35 and have a longer rear driveshaft. I do plan on stretching the WB and adding a HP in the rear but until then.... I wanted the longest D-shaft possibe with the combination. I currently have a 5.5 National lift in the rear with a 1" body. I'll get some pictures of the 3link we just finished building . It's already got changes planned because it was just our prototype. Maybe I'll get some posted next week.

Keep us informed how it turns out. I would love to slap a klune between my C6 and 205. My only concern is the rear driveshaft angle. I have about 6" of lift, 14 bolt rear moved back about 4 inches, but with the extra length of the drivetrain with the klune in there it might make my driveshaft angle a little scary.
Good Luck with yours.

actually by clocking the t-case you can lower your rear output and lessen your driveshaft angle. Don't know if it will help in your case but something to keep in mind. Jake
