Ok, my 3/4 14 has shafts that neck down after the splines to a diameter of about 1.35"..........what's up with that? Is this 3/4 ton only and 1 ton shafts are thicker? Or is this year specific? Anyone know???

If it's a full floater they're all the same.

Does anyone have a definite answer for me? Why do these shafts neck down?

They are all like that. It's an engineering thing. They made them so they wouldn't snap at the splines, but in the middle region of the shaft.

I plan on getting some Moser or Dutchman shafts eventually for mine. It shoud make Rockwells looks like toothpicks.

The thing to consider is reality......

...in reality, it's pretty fawking rare for anyone to break a 14 bolt shaft.

It's the least of my worries.
