OK Folks I have a technical question for you all. Sorry for the cross post (this was in General Discussion) but I'm not getting much luck over there.

Here is a pic of my Dana 60 Full Floater from a mid 80's J20 Jeep. I want to shorten it down for my TJ.

My question is this:

Is tube A the same as tube B or have the two tube sections have been butt welded together somehow. The white line shows where the spindle necks down on the inside of the tube. I just cannot figure out how they are joined and would love to know.

Thanks in advance

Rod Walker

sooo thats where all the dana 60's are out of J20's... Down under.. geeee no wonder they are hard to find.

To answer ur question... ahhh its that way cause an engineer designed it to make common folk ask questions. Besides that... sorry I have no idea. Makes no since to me either?

Cut tube A. There is a weld on the A side if the flange the backing plate bolts to and that is where the spindle is welded to the axle tube.
