before yall start saying fawk the nubie, i want to say that i am not an early bronco man. i am curious about what early broncos came with factory. a friend of mine is looking at getting one and i said i would try yall to find out what it might have. it is in a different state then us so we can not go look at it. it is a 72 ford early bronco. it has the 302,3spd, and 4:11 gears. thats all i know about it.

can anyone tell me what axles it probably has under it, if it is power breaks, and anything else would be greatly appreciated.

thanks and in advance, for all yall smarta$$es :flipoff2:

Check the front axle, it is probably a Dana 30 which will break if you run it off a curb too fast. IT probably has the old steering system ( not as realiable or sturdy as the Y tie rod system). It should have a 302... Thats about all I know. I was looking at a getting a bronco before I bought my toy.

Oh yeah, the rear axle is the stout Ford 9" but probably the smaller spine smaller bearing version.

'72's should have the D44 in front. Ball joints D44, king pins D30. 9" inch in the back with 28 splines. Very nice setup for 35" and smaller tires. Also it should have the "old" "Y" steering which is better than the '76, '77 "T" steering.

Yup, but the 66-75 have the good T steering the 76-77 have the crappy bumpsteer city y style

The 72 year was also when they went from the 2.46 "T" shift style transfercase, to the "J" shift 2.34 t-case. Gonna be a toss up there.

Definitley a D44 front, and possibly a big bearing 28 spline rearend. Not the nice banjo style center section though.
