I have a 6 point cage that is currently mounted to foot plates on the tub of my 85 cj7...in this build up i want to tie it into the frame...I need some input...

I figure i can cut the tub and weld the cage to the frame ???
is this a good idea ??
should i plate the side of my frame 1st ??
should i box it at that point instead or both ??
currenlty the cage shakes on the road when driving from the trailer to the trail will this get worse??
will this fatigue the frame and cage beyond a safe point in time.what dowfall iwas told about this method. when you hit rocks the sounds comes right up around...who cares..thanks for the info but who cares.....

2. weld to the frame and put a plate under the cage foot. sandwich the plate, tub, cushion material and foot of cage together then bolt it all together

3. weld or sandwich the cage foot then use a leaf spring bushing set up on the side of the frame..for flex and cushion

I am open to more ideas..I have no problem doing any of them....but what is safe and what are the adverse affects.....
Thanks Mike:beer:  :smokin: :smokin: :smokin: :rasta:

Option 2 is your best bet in my opinion. That way u can remove the cage from the body should u ever need to and u can also remove the body from the frame should u ever need to. Plus with the bushing in there it will cut down on rattiling and allow for frame flex. I would just make sure to use all grade 8 mounting materials to be sure that the bolts don't break.

Bill, this is on my YJ - but the concept should be the same.

I used MORE's frame tie kit (which came with the 1" aluminum puck for the body lift)

If I had it to do over again, I think I'd trim the poly mount and raise the mount up on the frame. I don't hit it - just think I would like it further up.
