I pulled back the rubber boot and there is a long bolt that goes through the shifter. The book says remove bolt, but when I turn it, it is just turning the nut. The nut is off, and the bolt is still there. I need to pull this tranny, but the freaking stick is holding up progress!!!!! Thanks, Dennis

Is the bolt threaded on both ends?
If it is the put the nut on the opposing end and tighten, this will pull the bolt from the shifter arm.

Yep;)
The bolt is actually a tapered wedge. Pulling it from the other side using the nut will yank it out.

Exactly. Remove the nut and knock it out the other side with a hammer. It's tapered, and the nut holds it on.
