: Where to get axles built
onsafari 11-06-2001, 03:16 PM Does antbody know of a good place besides the obvious places of getting some axles built for my TJ. The obvious places being Currie, Sunray Eng. and Drivetrain Direct. I am looking to built shaved D60's or hybrid Ford 9".
Thanks

lighterknot 11-06-2001, 04:34 PM Build them yourself!! :p
Seriously unless your local area has a 4x4 shop or driveline shop that does good custom work, the "big name" places are probably your only option.
Maybe someone with more firsthand experience can help you further.

CA_YJ 11-06-2001, 05:02 PM Have someone build you the axel housing and set your gears and lockers, then do the rest. i'ts pretty easy. I installed my Full Floater in my 60 in a coulpe of hours. Bring the blank shafts to currie and have them cut and spline them for 90 bucks. My New 60 cost me $2400 bucks when it was all done. that included the housing custom built, spicer gears, detriot, warn full floater kit, and big ass 11" disk brakes. go to dynatrac and pay twice that for the same thing.
Po' riggity 11-06-2001, 07:01 PM If It were mine, Id probably do a junkyard swap, although having axles custom built would be nice. Im assuming that you have the money to do this, since you are asking the question.. From what Ive seen and read on various forums, if it were my money, Id go with Sunray's D60/70/9" combo. But thats just my opinion.

borton 11-07-2001, 07:31 AM terra rc 60, and I think they will put them together and sell them complete.
JohnnyJ 11-07-2001, 07:40 AM I'd say DTS, but that's because they are local to me...

jeeper350 11-07-2001, 08:25 AM I am not saying that places like Dynatrac dont build Quality stuff but they and Sams offroad Quoted me $10,500 for Dana 60's thats a lot of moula. I would try the junkyard route. FULL WIDTH is not a problem in my book.
CA_YJ 11-07-2001, 08:49 AM I had quality axels custom built by a guy at six states for 5000 bucks. For my $$$ I got a 44 front with spicer gears, an ARB, and Warn Hubs. The rear is a 35 spline Full Floating 60. I called dynatrac and they wanted 5K for the front alone. I know Dnyatrac builds GREAT axles but they are too expensive for me. my .02

Thats what im talking about CA_YJ. I can think of a lot better things to pend that extra 5,000 grand on.
