I was at the wrecking yards today and I found what I think is a Samurai third member with a Detroit. I've never looked at a Samurai third member before so I want to make sure that this third is locked up and not open. So if somebody would be so kind as to post a picture of either an open third meber or a third member with a Detroit installed I would be very appreciative.

It didn't look like an open carrier (only seen Toyota and Dana ones though). I couldn't see any spider gears.

A Samurai Detroit uses the stock carrier, like a Lock-Right would. The only Sami locker that has it own carrier is an ARB.

Are the spider gears visible on a Samurai with an open carrier?

Early (four spider ) samurai carriers look like detroits
ie: the end cap bolts on
and the side gears are only visible from the ends
