Anybody an expert on quadrajets? I saw how the (non) Performers work off-road during the Pigs on the Con weekend. Even with the off-road kit, they are way suck.

So, my buddy had a '71 Caddy that we were scavaging parts off, and I ended up with the Quadrajet. The engine was a 500 bigblock... is this carb any different then what came on Small block 350s? Can I run it on my 350 (FJ45), on top of a Performer intake, RV cam, but otherwise stock (no headers, single exhaust etc.)

I guess my question is: Did quadrajets come in different CFMs? And does it make that much of a difference.

thanks.

yes there are 750, 800 and 830 cfm. but there are many different jettings for CID and flow requirements.
i have a built 377 that i put a Qjet from a 454 that would not run above idle. re-jetted the primarys and all was fine.

there are many books that have been written about the qjet. i can't remmeber the names but i have read them from cover to cover.
the qjet is a great carb.

Yes they came in many CFM ratings you need around a 600-650 for your engine...I think that caddy carb. might be around a 735 CFM mybe even 800+....
