: Caddy Quadrajet?

I posted this in General 4x4, but since it's for my 45 Wagon, thought I'd post it here as well.

Anybody an expert on quadrajets? I saw how the (non) Performers work off-road during the Pigs on the Con weekend. Even with the off-road kit, they are way suck.

So, my buddy had a '71 Caddy that we were scavaging parts off, and I ended up with the Quadrajet. The engine was a 500 bigblock... is this carb any different then what came on Small block 350s? Can I run it on my 350 (FJ45), on top of a Performer intake, RV cam, but otherwise stock (no headers, single exhaust etc.)

I guess my question is: Did quadrajets come in different CFMs? And does it make that much of a difference.

thanks.

Being down in Oz I am not sure if they are different CFM's but the
size should be ok. The only thing to watch out for is mixtures. Maybe smaller jets are req'd if you run too rich, bolt on and try is the best way to find out. Remember, max CFM's is achieved at full throttle, you can limit it but I run a 780 on my 350 and it's fine.
