they only started making camaro's in 1967, I have a 1968 camaro for sale if you are interested. It would be perfect for a project.

BTW, it seems that almost every Camaro up here is driven by Mexican chicks, I have no idea what that means, just an observation.

Shupee has quite a few. He has one that he has re-built and it looks great. If I remember correctly, it even had a 60 in the rear. Maybe he will see this and post a few pics...

I love mopar, I honestly do. Have had a couple, both small blocks and big blocks. And I will say that the hemi was likely the single most expensive engine I have owned in terms of modifying it...

but it was oh so worth it ;)

67 the only way to go.

Here is my old 67 with a 500+ hp 396 big block, 400 Turbo trans, Tubbed rear end... and ran 11seconds in the quarter.

Thanks man....I think 67-8 is the body style I think of when I think older camaro. Still need more research though. That pic of the 71.......:puke: Ick.....hate that style

woody99
01-31-2003, 12:14 PM
yup they changed the body style a bit in 69. 67-68 is the best choice but also the most $$. 85 IROC would be cool too!

yeah, 67-69 is most definitely the style you want... Pick up this month's "Popular Hot Rodding"... They have been following the buildup of a Camaro by a guy named Mark Stielow. He has built something like 10 different Camaros, and each one has been more badass than the last.

However, the 70 1/2 Camaros look decent if you split the bumper.. From 72-on, they are pretty much hillbilly mobiles...

If you like that, you should definitely check out Stielow's Camaros...

There is his latest one "The Mule"... The amount of work he has done is amazing.

I also have a weakness for round tail light Camaros....I've had 3 (one ran mid 9's). Every once in a while I get the urge to build another one. I think it would be cool to stiff a late model vette suspension and drivetrain under a clean '70 1/2 SS

something else to think about...its cheaper to buy a nice one to begin with. cheaper to buy than to build, just like a rig. you NEVER get out what you put in. Your lucky to recoup %50 of your investment.

my dad had a 67 with a 427 what a rocket:eek: . saw one in a mag a long time ago that was a little different, started as a straight six 67(i think). they built up a 292 straight six, bored to 330 something and went with a street/roadrace type suspension setup. i've always wanted to copy that one, might be able to find one with a six a little cheaper.
