so i've got the engine ready to come out. i've disconnected everything. it pulls away form the tranny about 1/4" at the bottom and and maybe an 1/8" at the top. the damn thing won't come any farther. decided to try it with a picker tomorow but am i missing something? or anyone got some tricks for me? figure the cherry picker is trick #1. :D

You do not need to pull the trany to pull the motor. Just slide the motor off the input shaft, and then it will come out. Should take about 1 hour to pull the motor.

yeah, we tried to do it with that cover plate still attached. i thought it would slip right out after i caught that but nothing. i think its cause when we're yanking on it 's not straight? i'm just gonna get a picker over tomorow and try again. it's coming wheather it likes it or not. :D

Here is the list of stuff to take off :
*4 bolts holding engine to trans
(sounds like you have them off)
*2 bolts holding the flywheel cover plate
(sounds like you have them off):D
*2 bolts holding exhaust
(I hope you have them off)
*2 bolts holding each motor mount
(I hope you have them off)
*2 bolts holding the starter
(It sounds like you do not have the top one off)

I have yanked several of these engines out. In my opinion, it is much faster and easier to pull the tranny and engine out together as a unit, THEN beat the thing apart :D

I have the 1.6 in my zuk and keep ripping stock motor mounts. It is pretty funny when the plenum hits the hood. Where can I get a set of these heavy duty ones??

Thanks
