: What just happened?
Motornoggin 02-01-2003, 12:23 AM I was working on a chop when my puter "chirped". Then , my tool bars went black, and Photoshop closed on me! It has made that chirping sound since I installed XP Pro. It only does it occasionally. I thought the black toolbars were the virus scanner, but I ditched that a while ago. Why does it do that?
RigLessPos 02-01-2003, 12:44 AM  does it only do that when you run memory intesive programs...ie photshop? sounds like memory problems or your chipset might be overheating?
RigLessPos 02-01-2003, 12:45 AM tell me what kinda of computer you have how much memory and what type of chip you have and i'll se what I can find out for ya
Motornoggin 02-01-2003, 10:57 PM It seems to do it randomly. It chirps at least once after I turn it on. Same with the black toolbars. I haven't noticed any pattern to them.
I am running a PII 333 clocked to 417, an A-Open DX63 Pro mobo, 256 megs of RAM, NVIDIA G-Force 2 GTS, and a cheap sound card.

Its your sound card :flipoff2:
Actually, I have heard of this happening to my friends water cooled system. He overclocks it too... Not sure why it happens though
fj40john 02-01-2003, 11:11 PM my monitor chirps at me sometimes...drives me nuts!!! not sure why it does it.

Mine makes a tone sometimes, like when your ears ring... Thats what I thought it was too for the longest time. But a swift hit to the side of the monitor and it stops
fj40john 02-01-2003, 11:16 PM mine does the ringing, but it also has a chirp, seems like the chirp is almost consistently timed...kinda weird.

Why does that have handles on it? Is that their laptop?
IMO Macs are like Saabs, they make ok stuff, but they are to quirky for me to want one.:D

Po' riggity 02-02-2003, 12:20 AM If I had the money, Id ditch my PC and go Mac in a second. That Mac is lookin sweet.

VT_Toy 02-02-2003, 12:22 AM The Apple Cinema Display shouldn't be on the same page as the word "affordable" $1250
Sounds like it's running too fast! Slow that sucker down a bit! Does it have temp sensors on board?

The handles are for easy moves, as well as part of the design. the handles on the bottom are a base structure as well. the handles are also helpfull when lifting it up to upgrade, like going from 512megs memory to 1 gig or slapping an additional hard drive in, or whatever your moddin' self feels like doing.
As for the Saab parallelogram, i think a comparasin to the BMW would be more like it. For a few buck more, you get a much better machine, finer craftsman ship, better looks, and a few different ways of doing the same things the other guys do, only in a much more efficient way. you get what you pay for with computers, and this is evident in the Macintosh lines.
Throw Yellow Dog on there and you've got a bitchin' machine!

I was kidding about the handles.;) I have never spent any time with the Macs. A lot of it has to do with the cost and hardware and software support, but that's another thread. I would like to find one to play around with, just to see how they work.

Well said Brian :flipoff2: Plus the hardware is better built than a lot of offshore shit crappy generic mobo's and chipsets slapped together on wintel machines.
As for the car thing if you compare $$ for $$$ its like GM vs Ford IMO. Like anyhting you get used to what you have and dont want to change.
