Search=no find. What in the fawk is the hockey puck (two kind of) looking things on the differential. If you know what I am talking about is it needed for anything swapped into a YJ?

Those are extra weight, throw them away. I think they are some kind of vibration dampners. Just toss them!!!!

Yup, vibration dampner. Throw it in the trash, you don't need it.

Yeah I sold my front 44 cause it won't be worth it for now and am going to trade my rear 44 for the 8.8. It works out in the end. The 8.8 is off a stolen explorer. Don't know the year, 95-?? cause it has disk brakes. The dampners are shot anyway so they are gone. I'll email you the story behind it. It's amusing.

Thanks for the info guys!

Yeah there is another 8.8 where we got this one. It has drum brakes though. I'm sure it can be converted fairly cheap too. I'll email you in a bit. I've just been busy lately.

you dont want that, no good for swapping.

28 spline shafts (you could upgrade but why?)
HREW tubes they have a good diameter but still bend easy. look for the ones with disks right off.

thats funny i too have wondered what that disk was, it looks almost like a rock roller but not in a desired location.

Z-what?

I've got a local source where I can pick up late model ('97-'99) 8.8 exlporer axles for a great price without disks or rotors. E-mail me if you want more info, it's in southwest VA.

I wasn't sure about the Ranger 8.8 (I'll forget it then) but I'm using the one form the exploder. It has disks and is in decent shape. Thanks for the offers though.

One more question, on the diff (housing) near the dampner, there is a plug looking thing and a bolt. What are they? Thanks again. I know everyting else I need to know other than thses weird little quirks.

The plug at the top of the housing is the ABS sensor plug. Just ignore it. The bolt behind it usually has a clip that retains the e-brake line and steel brake line. I hope this is what you are talking about. You can kind of see them in this pic.

Probably the ABS sensor.

Yup, you guys got it. Thanks again. The plug is loose if that matters. I am going to crack it open soon. If it goes into the case I will need close it up I guess. Thanks again.
