Honestly.... no. Mavic and Bontrager are the brands I'd look at, but I couldn't tell you what the models are right now. I'm riding on a Bontrager Mustang with the offset holes (zero 'dish' on the wheel) and it seems to be holding up well.
We can make a run to one of 'my' shops if you'd like.

It all depends on how fat you are :flipoff2:

I run Bontragers on King hubs. Had em built at Sloughs. Across the street from Race Street Fish and Poultry in San Jose
Get some Mavic X 517's. They are not too pricy and hold up well.

Hey Josh we should go riding out at round valley.
I need to get my ass on my bike again to get this fattening under control.
Thinking of dusting off the road bike. just picked up my extra set of speedplay pedals from my mom. HMMMM mightr hit the road tonight.
I've been riding a Mavic D321 in the front, and a Salsa Gordo (?!?!) in the rear. I think the Salsa is made by Weinmann (sp?). It is a tough rim, but when it breaks I'll probably go 321 w/ a disc hub in back also, 'cuz disc brakes kick ass!
BTW- I weigh 175 and ride hard, before this setup I was going through rims faster than brake pads....:D

That's funny. I was just thinking about selling my bike last night. I should quit smoking soon anyway  If you really wanna see me puke, I'll go. I have a spring over project this weekend though. Do me a favor and bug me about it again. I'll go for sure.

i got a pair of mavic D521 sup's, i love them, i got them when they first came out (2 yrs?), still have them. you talk about tuff?
i freeride hard, do all the stuff my skinnier buddies do and these rims hold up to my near 300# carcase with ease.
between the 521's and the DT HUGI hubs, i dont blow wheelsets any more. but i still bend spokes, and i'm on my 3rd swingarm now.

check this rim out...
sun rhyno lites with 13 gauge spokes laced to a xt disc hub. nice rim.tough as hell, heavy, fast. Want a good shop for wheels/ I got a few. If it's a mikes bikes store, they'll definately know what they're doin. Danville bike, california peddler, and kalo mountain bikes in Sunol are my other top choices. have fun.

Yeah, the mikes bikes in Sausalito has some of the best wrenches around. 13 gauge spokes are plenty tough, go for 12 if you'r really super nutz. but then you'd want beefier hubs and rims too. Thats just my ideal setup for a guy that's on a relative budget. I personally think that mavic and bontrager is crap, I've broken too many of those. But yeah, if you really want some legit wheels built up you could always ask Drews BMX to lace up your stuff, best wheelbuilders around. And you can never go wrong with anything made in berkeley.

You're funny, Ianbike. :D
I've built well over 1000 wheels in my time. Sun are good. Mavic are good. Recent Bontrager are good. 12 guage? 13 guage? WAAAY overkill. Need a way overbuilt wheel? Most don't, and if they think they do it's because they don't know how to ride. Equipment matters, but it doesn't substitute for training and talent. :flipoff2:
Paul (you'll never hear my stories about the "wrenches" at Mike's/Sausalito)
