What bellhousing and/or adaptor is needed for this conversion? Anybody running this?

Depends on which 2.5 you have. If you have an early 80's CJ with the GM 2.5 you can use a bellhousing from a chevy truck that has a NP435. If you have the later 2.5 (AMC type) find a Jeep truck that is equipped with a NP435(this is assuming that the 2.5 shares the same bellhousing pattern as the inline 6's and V8's)

Novak is supposed to be making one for the AMC 2.5L crowd, but at this point the only other option is to modify a Chevy 2.8L V-6 one to work.

if your user name means anything then i all you need to bolt a np435 to a 93 2.5L is a t176 or t150 bell housing. then you need to use an iron duke (cj 4 cyl) slave cylinder. other than that you need to cut a hole in the b/h to put in the CPS (crank position sensor) which really isn't too hard, you just need to line everything up nicely. the only thing you need to get from A.A is a new pilot bushing which is like 23 bucks if i remember correctly.

How sure are you on this? The 4.0 and the 2.5 have completely different bell housings. 90º vs. 60º

I think you can use the stock 2.5 bellhousing and bolt up the NP435. It has a chevy bolt pattern on the engine and a ford bolt pattern on the tranny.

No one makes an adapter for the newer FI 2.5.
They make em for the 4.0 but not the 4 banger.
You will probably have a lot problems with lack of power, with the NP435. You can not really use 1st gear for anything but crawling off road. In high range its good to about 4mph with 4.56 gears. 4th gear was hard for my 2.5 to pull with 36" tires, so you wont see much 4th gear except down hill with a tailwind. So you will be essentialy be struggleing out of the hole in second, and reved out in 3rd for most of your driving.
I like the NP435 tranny a lot, but I dont think I would put one behind the FI 2.5 unless it is strictly a trail rig.
