First off :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Ok Now I can begian I'm working on a project CJ7 Golden Eagle Levis edition I'm tuning it into a rock Jeep I know the Dana 30 and amc 20 are not very strong but how strong is the Quadra trac t-case would it hold up to some 37 boggers, Locked ?
And could I create a Dana 60 to run the Quadra Trac system ?
Thanks and :flipoff2:
:D

It's chain driven.
The chain will stretch.
Get a gear driven transfercase. If you've got a quadratrack, you've probably got the turbo 400 tranny. there is a stock adapter to put a Dana 20 behind there, or you can get an aftermarket one for a Dana 300.

gotta disagree with you. there's a fella by the name of todd who runs 39.50 TSLs on his quadratrac driven waggy with a moderately built 360. the qtrac xcase has a beefy chain and will not stretch unless you beat the hell outta it.

Perhaps, but since he's going to need to replace his rear axle with some serious beef anyhow, he might as well ditch the wierdly-offset Quadratrac case and go with a centered unit like a D20 or (better yet) a D300. Then he won't have to worry about cutting down one side of his rear axle and using a custom shaft, etc when he swaps.

Thanks for the responce Well Why you ask and why I don't just put a dana 300 or something else in the back how about Being Different ??:smokin: I want someone to look at this and say WTF are you thinking I've never seen that before :goofball: .
Thats Why Sure it going to cost me a arm and a leg to get it done but It will be the only one at least in my neck of the woods.
Thank any other Ideas for this One

Krazy,
I have nothing at all against being different, but the sad truth of it is that "conventional" design is what's left when everything else has been tried and found wanting... It's the reason we all still drive vehicles with plain old piston-driven four cycle internal combustion engines (instead of Wankels or turbines or any of the other alternatives that have been tried and abandoned down through the years).
SO I say: Go ahead and keep the Quadratrac. Just don't be surprised when the buildup gets expensive because of the goofily-offset axle needs and/or the thing eventually craps out in the middle of nowhere when your t-case chain breaks.
Hint: Your best bet for a (semi) beefy, but still affordable rear axle replacement to match the Quadratrac case would probably be an AMC 20 or D44 off a Quadratrac Waggy. I wouldn't expect it to last long with 37-inch boggers though...35s maybe. Anything beefier will probably have to be custom.

Jake

Put in a new chain and seals, and then check the chain regularly (on oil changes is good) to make sure that it is not stretching from abuse. It should do ok, you could also put in a part-time kit if you didn't want the full-time capability.
Drivetrain Direct sells a Superior 1-piece axle kit for QT CJs for $289 on their site.
As for swapping out for a Dana 20 or Dana 300; you would either need an expensive adapter or get lucky to find the stock early-70s Wag adapter in a yard to use a 20, or swap out the TH-400 for TF-727 to use the 300 or buy an expensive adapter (if available). Not to mention the cost of getting the transfer cases.
If you want a Dana 60, look for a 74-79 J-20 in a yard with QT, you can score a Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear with the proper offsets.
If you are worried about the t-case, start collecting them. Since they have a bad rap, you usually don't have to pay much for them compared to a golden D300 or D20.

might as well say this once:
DO NOT use anything but certified quadratrac fluid in the qtrac xcase!!!!!! no ATF, no gear oil, nothin but QT fluid.
the AMC20 rearend has quite a few features in common with the dana60, actually. the fella who runs the waggy qtrac with 39.50s has f/r dana 44s and 4.88s.
BTW, the waggy dana 20 AMC20/d44 rearend is offset, too. the only xcases jeep used since late 60s that weren't offset were NP and dana300 models. the CJ dana 20 rearends may or may not be offset, but if you're going to beef it up, i'd assume you'll use heavier (read: full size jeep) parts.
