: Bent my rear driveline
Hooper 11-07-2001, 12:24 PM Well, turns out the vibration I had after my last trail trip was a bent rear driveline. Nice even bend across its length. About an inch of wow. No contact marks, so it is a torque bend. :D Nice to know my new motor is putting out the torque :D
I had a new driveline made. 2" diameter, .0120 wall thickness. That should be a bit tougher to bend :D

Torque bend?? How does that work - I haven't heard of it before.
The only "torque bend" I did was when I twisted it like a pretzel until it snapped in two. :D
Now you have a trail spare!

Hey everyone look. Hooper's a newbie again:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :D
Just kiddin'...hey I ran across your website through the IH webring. I was reading about your Scout's history, that's cool that it was in a movie...sorry, I never "got it"..I have never even heard of the movie...

I already had a trail spare :D
It had a bow in it, with no contact marks. The paint at the ends on the welds had chipped, so it had just started to twist off the welds, but it had 1 inch of bow in it. Since it had no contact marks, it pretty much had to have torqued a bow into it. ?? I think it was a hair breadth from pretzeling, but not quite??

All that padding, wasted!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
Yep. Pretty cool. I don't talk about it alot. Some folks really get irate, believe it or not. I don't care if folks believe me or not, but when folks get in a tiff over my claim, it is pretty ridiculous. Like it makes any difference in how well it wheels.....
Someday I will restore it and make it into a show rig. It deserves it. But, I need room and $$ for a real trail rig before I do that.

You've got to rent the movie. I'd say it qualifies as a dude movie. The intro is classic, the movie is based on two stuntman, Burt Reynolds, Jane Michael Vincent (I think). The go the whole movie seeing whom has the bigger set. And you can see the Hooper Scout, mostly backwards.

Yeah and they drink original Coors thru pretty much the whole movie, and they get in a big fight with Terry Bradshaw, and jump a canyon in a suped up Camaro or some shit.............hope I didn't give away the whole movie:flipoff2:
I would give it 4 stars for a dude movie, its one of those that every time I flip by and see that it is on I have to stay with it.

And you are going to tell me you don't stop to watch baywatch every time you surf past it, even though you know that plot also??? :D
Definitely a guys show. Right now TNN is running Stoker Ace as well, Another gotta watch again show :D
On the other hand, I rented Driven on PPV. That was slow and boring with some good effects, and some good race scenes, but not something I would spend time watching again.

Stoker Ace is cool too, got a lotta Loni Anderson action vs. the young sweet clean Sally Fields era of Hooper and Smokey&the Bandit.
Burt also has to dress up in a chicken suit, a lot of old Nascar action competing against real drivers in real STOCK cars. A whole lot of crashes. Jim Nabors:rainbow: is Burts sidekick in the movie.
Definitely worth seeing but check out Hooper first.
