Well I have a tubing bender coming so I figure that it is time to make a family cage fo the FJ40. My question becomes what is better. U front bar? Halo style? or the L shaped front cages. Ideas? pictures???

Here's a nice one. It's on a Jeep but you should be able to get an idea for the cruizer... :D:D

if done right they are all equel in strength. im guessing since the tube bender is new, your prolly not an experianced bender so prolly the l would be the easiest. see how you are at it and just go with what works

Here's a shot of the cage that is currently under construction and should be done shortly. Now before some newbie starts lecturing me on cage construction and safety note that I said UNDER CONSTRUCTION.:flipoff2: It isn't a family cage but could easily be adapted. Hope it helps.:D

Here is what I did with my CJ7

All material is 2" X .120 wall besides the factory bar which is 2.125".

Hey Sloan(or anyone else),
this is a little off subject but do the rear flares conform to any shape or are they pre-formed for cruzers?

I'll try to remember to get some shots of mine in the morning. It's out of my 40 right now so I'll try and get a few good shots for ya.

those look like the preform.

Those flares came on the truck when I bought it but they are hard plastic. So I would guess they would be considered preformed. I know that Spectre Off Road now sells sets that you can twist and contort if that's what you need.

Here is an example of how flexible they are.:D

The halo style is the strongest. Why do you think NASCAR runs halos?
Also, if you gusset all the joints, it will strengthen it tremendously.

Here is mine, Its not all that purty, but its functional. I built it so that 4 adults will be totally safe in a full rollover so I gave it plenty of headroom. I still need to add the triangulated gussets in this pic but it gives you an idea what it looks like. Its constructed using a main front halo and a add on halo in the back with 6 posts holding it up, the 4 back tubes go to the frame and the front 2 go to the windshield mounts.

I would have to say it depends on the direction of the roll. If you " Indo " then i would say the indo cage would hold together better and if you roll on your side then the " Halo " style would be your best bet. Triagulation is a must in any cage design period. And since no one can pre-determin which direction they will roll, make what you think looks cool and support the hell out of it.

SLOAN,.

Yes i did see that you got seats. Haven't been to the shop in a few weeks so hope all is well with your yota. Is Eric going to have it done for the meet and greet?
