: Kit Companions Extreme
jdjanda 02-07-2003, 09:23 PM I may have found the solution to a heavy duty hauler with living quarters. Anyone have any experience with Kit Companions Extreme trailers. I checked one out today, capable of hauling a 5,000 lb rig. Sleeps 6-8, full bath and kitchen. Exterior shower, outside flood lights, generator, outdoor speakers. Even has a 30 gallon fuel tank with pump to refill. Price about 35K.

i was in the market for a toy box. i researched all the brands. there is a exteme dealer 5 miles from my house so i spent alot of time crawling around in them. ( i was there today as a matter of fact ).
in my opinion they are one of the better build and designed toy haulers.
my first choice would be the weekend warrior them the kit.
fyi. in the end i decided all of them were over priced piles of crap and decided to build my own starting with an all steel framed wells caro trailer and building from there.
check out the kit f1 interior. pretty cool

I've not had a chance to see the WW up close. But the pics and specs on the website look good. I like the layout and the two fold out tent beds for the kids on the Kit. I'm trying to find RV websites to see if there is any good or bad info.

The cash is not there to build a custom unit. I'm paying cash for my truck I'll have to finance this bastard, but I'm planning on depreciating it under a business. From the looks of it you could build the same thing for around 15k

The wife likes the plain brown interior the loud racing interiors have been nixed.
if you decide on the weekend warrior go to giant rv website ad get a quote from thier internet sales staff. they kicked ass over there stoers prices.
example. i got a quote on a 40''fifth wheel loaded. it retailed for 45k their internet sales gave me a written quote for 35k. i went to each of their 4 stores in so.cal. and the best price i could get after hours of haggling was aprox 37k. i would then show them the written quote from their own internet sales staff and they would always tell me "those bastards" and tell me to work with them because their store managers were not allowed to go that low.
extreme.
ya my wife didn't dig the F1 interior either. LOL those fold out beds are soo cool i actually ordered the whole assembly from the factory to install in my trailer. fyi.....the beds list for $1700 from the dealer but i got mine for $850 after a bit of haggling so when you order yours don't let them screw ya. also that uline ice maker list for like $ 1200 but you can buy them seperate for about $450. moral to the story is there is alot of mark up in the extreme trailer so grind them on price.
another unit worth considering is the Tahoe. deserttoy has a 33 fith wheel toy box and it is very well priced and seems like it is built OK. not great but ok.
just make sure to look at every detail on any trailer you are considering. some of them are complete crap
Jeepskickass 02-08-2003, 06:47 PM If I were to have one set up for me, I'd go SandTek. Like other custom manufacturers, they make WW look like crap!

latley i dont think they are living up to what they used to be. a race team we compete against in the desert has a 40'' santek and it is literly breaking in half.
also talk to mitch guthrie. he has one as well and i don't think he is very happy with it.
InfantryYJ 02-10-2003, 05:11 AM I looked at the Kit's but they were too high dollar for me, my preference would have been a Thor 32' fifth wheel, but at the time I was shopping, I couldn't find one within a reasonable amount of driving time, so I settled for a Coachmen 28' bumper pull.

It's not nearly as nice as the fifth wheels, but it'll do for now.
BTW, you can get a Thor for under $20,000 on ebay fairly new, and new ones go for aroune $23,000.

What does the heep weigh in at, ~4,000 lb range? How does it pull, cause that is a lot of trailer.

Yep, dead on at 4000lb's, I had it weighed prior to buying the camper. My limit is 4500lbs in the camper so I don't have much room to spare, all the extra's go in the bed of the truck. The camper's dry weight is 6800lbs.
It pulls fine, when you check the sideview mirrors you notice a little sway, but nothing that you can feel. It'll work for now, we'll probably get rid of it if I get to get stationed overseas(hoping). I wouldn't want the camper to sit for three years.
