: Wrap bar for the 8.8

With the 14 bolt not quite ready to swap, I needed to fab another wrap bar for my 8.8(tore the Bronco radius arm version from the axle a few weeks ago at fordyce), so that it could make one more trip to Johnson valley.
I only had a few evenings to get it done so it was rushed a little. I never even cleaned the splatter from the welds or painted it.
It did do very well at the hammers though.
It bolts right up to the 8.8 bracketgs and stiffners incorporated into the diff. The goofy shackle at the front allows complete twist and forward and rearward movemnet.

Real nice work. Let me know if you want to sell it for a couple bucks when your 14 bolt comes in.

Start a new thread if you wan to know about the 8.8 or just do an archive search. I will respond to it.

It would be a very good axle for that application. The 8.8 will handle 36" tires with nearly any engine and gearing, as long as a few modifications and precations are done, such as welding the tubes to the diff housing. My 8.8 is handeling the 38.50x14.50 SX tires just fine so far. The only time I have been able to bust the 8.8 was when I was stupid. I applied a bunch of power(like 300hp/325lb torque, and 140:1 gear ratio), when I was hopelessly wedged into V rock.

$500 seems fair. I've heard of them going for as little as 2 or 3 hundred, but haven't seen that personally. Here in Denver, they go for upwards of $900 in boneyards (at least they did a couple years ago when I was looking for mine).

$350 is a good price, but the calipers are expensive without cores. I think $500 is far. I paid $750 for mine, but it was complete with e-brake lines and u-bolts w/ 4.10's. It will handle your engine and tires easily.

BTW, H8monday I was serious about buying the bar when you get the 14 bolt.

If Nellis (?) is anything like LA AFB is right now you couldn't get that axle to him with a note from Christ.

I will be putting the 8.8 up for sale in a couple of weeks, and will be selling the trac bar and axle mount also(I will be retaining the front bar mount and goofy shackle for use with 14 bolt). Also a set of 15x10 5 on 5 1/2" MRT beadlocks.
I have not even thought about prices for any of them yet though.
I mean after all, they are all in such pristine condition, <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> ,.. I have only used them to go get groceries. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

$500 for that is a fair price. Go for it.
