: Does this gear pattern look allright?

setting up my gears today and need to know if this pattern looks acceptable. Looks alright to me, but being this is the first time setting up gears I would like a 2nd opinion.

I too would move the pattern out towards the thicker part of the teeth for strength. It would probably be nice and quiet where you have it, but your spool tells me you're looking for strength

I think you need to remove a few thousandths of pinion depth shim. It's close, though.

Better, take out a little more. When in doubt I like to take out too much on purpose so you know what it looks like too shallow, then go for the middle. When it's right on it'll look football shaped without the flat line at top or bottom.
When you get the depth dead on, play with backlash- minimum spec b/l should be more on the heel of the gear and more backlash will take it to the toe.
