I found a single wheel 14 bolt today thats 67" wms to wms, and it says on the tag that it has 4.56's... .is this a CUCV axle? if so, what is the likeliness that it is locked with a detroit??

Well the problem with 14 bolts is that a detroit fits into an open carrier, so you cant readily tell the difference between an open or locked 14b. also.. i cant open it up

Yeah, but there's a huge difference between spider gears and a locker. Plus, if you can't open it, don't buy it. Why would you buy it if you didn't know whether or not the gears are rusted all to hell or chipping to dust?

Very true.. I am kind of far away from moving up to one ton axles, but hopefully when that time comes I will be able to open up stuff on this guys yard.
By the way patooyee, are you going to the game on saturday??
I'll be there :D

a 14 bolt is an awesome axle if you are looking for strenght. I just put a FF 14 bolt in the back of my Jeep and I doubt I will ever break it. Besides, if I do they are reasonably easy to find and get parts for since GM still makes them.
