So what does everyone think is the strongest method to attach heims to control arms:

1) welded on ends

2) welded on nuts or

3) thread the control arm tubing

id have to say #2. welding the ends will heat them up and they will fail quicker and be a pain to change. threaded tubing will fatigue over time, and the tubing will get bashed on rock and make it hard to get the ends out over time. with the welded nut ya arent heating the end and they will always be easy to change

Most of the control arms I've dealt with have #3. Some of them have threaded inserts welded to the end of the rod and spot welded down the rod a bit.

This will allow you to get a lot more threads in the arm and put a jam nut on it. If you make the arms out of thick enough material, I don't think they would normally fatigue.

Id have to agree with yjtj # 2

easy to fix if u break an end
adjustable lenght

So for a lot of 3 and 4 links people are running welded nuts on their links or are we only talking control arms here??

spidertrax sells inserts you weld to your control arms that you thread the heim in to. When used with a locking nut of some type it keeps the control arm from twisting itself which would effectively lengthen or shorten the control arm. I'd say use these welded inserts and thread the heim into that.
