And look who's selling it. I thought these things were supposed to be rare? Vintage is gonna be in for a shock when he finds out the market value for an original FJ25.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6443&item=2403690448&rd=1

Not much is altered but there's a few things missing.

This is truly a rare find since few if ever were hardtops existing with ultra rare factory heater

There's rust all over that thing.

This gus is SO cheesy, his descriptions always make me want to gag!
The sad thing is that he'll find some Cruiser newbie dope to sell this truck to, and then the guy tries to get some parts for the truck and has a heart attack! When he recovers he comes to the realization that he's now Marv's bitch if he wants parts, so he puts it up for sale, trying to recoup what he paid for it. Truck continues to relist on various sites for months, then finally some redneck with a big block hanging from a barn rafter makes him an offer, hacks the poor truck to bits to make the engine and "them big tars" fit, and goes muddin....scratch another FJ25....

Ist that a 40 with a 25 grill? I thought the doors on an fj25 were rounded like a cj or somthin.

only soft top 25's had the rounded doors, hard top doors were like early 40 doors.

I know you didn't mean it to be funny.......but I thought it was :)

the worst one he had still must be the army fj40 with the soft top over the hard top......fully restored.....what bullshit!

He also makes reference on this truck to the "military background", whatever that means....

Unfortunately that's the sad part, it is a pretty original hardtop 25. And rare too, Don't know of that many, two are here on the PBB. The hardtop had the square 40 door openings with the posts that stick up at the rear of the door frame.

I was all ready to fire off a complaint and was pissed to see he really had a 25.

The first time I saw a factory hardtop FJ25 I was skeptical too, it was Rob Meredith's 1961. But when I got into collecting factory literature I realized that the did make two different tub all the way to 1963/4, with the factory softops having the rounded tub (Warden's FJ25) and the factory hardtops having the square door openings (Vintage's FJ25).

"This Vintage FJ is a candidate for a total respray. "

(and I keep wondering why his trucks are so "clean."

A friend of mine has a 63 FJ40 original softop (no parts of the top left) that has the rounded door openings. He tried putting a hard top on it but couldn't find doors to fit. He ended up with what looked like either a mail truck or an ice cream truck. He sold the top. Those early years FJ40s had some good steel though. His 40 has been outside with no top for years and has VERY minimal rust, I'm amazed.

Where's the pics of the "factory heater", that's got my curiosity because one of my FJ25s has what I think is an original factory heater.

Hell after looking at this one I'm going to have to say that both of my 25s are looking pretty good :D

Only difference is I've only got about a $$ grand invested in both total !   All the way to the bank.

BTW two is better than one, cause I don't have to bend over for Marv:D :D

Morgans is not a 25, but a early 40 like I have, he has lots of parts for it as well.

I will consider selling my early 40(corragated) top to someone who will do the right thing to it. I'ts rot free and 98% stock(all thats not stock is the bumpers), uncut, orignial piant(it will shine like new) , has a rod knock(PO didn't have dizzy in all the way). If someone is interested let me know, I don;t want a fortune for it just for it to go to a good home.

That round heater with the two flaps is stock, IIRC(I attended a day of "learning" courtesy of Rick D once at Rock solid Offroad) and I am almost sure he said those were an OEM option on '63 and earlier fj40/45's...

Wow Georg, that white 45 wagon looks to be really clean. How is the inside, simialr condition or roached?

that's a factory nippondenso LC heater in Mushro's FJ25. It actually looks a lot like a rover of near same vintage. I have seen five in 45 wagons with a triangular vent tube to pass side cowl for flip vent (two of which I owned). I have only seen three FJ25's with the heater. This was the only Toyota heater until the 1965 model year and the center version. all the rest (US issue trucks) are false- period.

In 1997 I tried to order those heaters in offline kit forms. $89 was the list price! Bad news was they were out of stock and went discontinued.

yep, that wagon was sitting next to bad dawg! darrel was kind enough to offer it to me first and it did set me back about half my tax refund.:( , but it's so damn clean, i could not pass it up. virtuall no rust anywhere; so i'm STOKED.

and simon, i think our next road trip "strippers and junkyards" (reno and all the yards between here and idaho) should be in about 2 months to go get it and you better join us!:D
