Im currently working on my toyota swap, but next im tackling my 33's rubbing on the rocker panels.

Ive got 33 12.50's on 10 inch wide 2 inch back spaced wheels. Im 4.5 spoa, breeze drop links, and 2 inch body lift. Right now the tires rub on the rocker panels at 1/2 lock steering. Im getting ready to install my cj springs in back, and move the rears to the front. Ive had some say that it binds up the z link to move the front axle foward, which is what I want to do. I just cant afford to go cross over steering yet. Are any of you guys running a z link this way, and are you getting it to clear the leaf spring while turned to the right at max droop? ide really like to move the front axle foward that inch if it can be accomplished without binding it on the drag link, and clear the RF spring at droop.

i ran a zlink for a while with rear OME 2.5" springs up front....the zlink rubbed the tie rod pretty bad....gave a lot of bumpsteer.....and did bind against the passenger side spring pack.....it can be done....but handling is marginal at best.....i would save up for cross over.....i bought trail toughs kit....can't beat it for the price.....it may not be as stout as the breeze kit but brent told me he'd take care of it if it broke....

that a bit over stated I have been driving my 8inch + lifted zuk for 50k with a poorly made z link (RRO) and I wouldn't call the handling marginal I'd call it interesting.Keeping up is usually the other guys problem. My next rig ------well that'll be mo better:D

I have been running a z-link with rears and have had minimal problems. The z-link rubs the spring pack and there is a lot of bumpsteer.:( I am going to go with breeze ind. crossover when I put on power steering:smokin:

yea you can run the z- link with the rears up front. I have a toyota box, and what i did was reindex the pitman arm to piont slightly to the passenger side amd shorten the zilink a little. This will bring the zlink forward while goin straight and when you turn to the right it pulls forward more than the knuckle tie rod end moves toword the back. When you turn left the Tie rod end moves forward. My axle is about 1.5-2" farther forward and this works great!

thanks for the info and pics.

I got the springs all swapped out. Moved the front axle foward, and it did indeed bind up. I had built a z link when I first did the spoa, and it is now not even close to enough of a drop, and if I start to flex the pass. side of the zuk it binds into the leaf. Definatly got some work there to do.

Im hoping to get my flange in sometime this week to get the engine hooked to the t case, and build my engine mounts.

Moving the rear axle back, and the front foward opened up all new drive line challenges. Time to do more reading.

How do the stock drive shafts work out when you do a SOA? I never even messed around with stock axles so I don't have a clue, do the spacers work and what length do you use?

sizes range from 3/4--1 1/2 82 to 85 require 2-3/4 86-88 require
one 3/4 two 1/2" 88- 95 require one 3/4 two 1/2" and thats for
4.5"to 5.5:spoa any more than that it's suggested get a longer drive shaft or a slip yoke:D :D :D

I'm doing a SOA on my sisters, it's an 86'. Stock axles with 31" TSL's, 4.56's Ez Lockers. It looks kinda cool, we're also doing some tube work ( cage, sliders, bumpers, shock hoops, half doors)

I'm trying to do it on her budget, so I thought I would ask.:)

generally the larger spacer on the front at the diff and the small say 1/2" one on each side of the rear and that for zuk axles
I have 5.5" spoa 4-8 droplink shakles wrangler springs in the rear and rear sami's upfront with an xtra 1" of lift with the shakle
havent had any problems but going spacers does give a bad vibe over 20mph locked out but no mind to me I trailer it to the sight
and then crawwwll :smokin: also my spacer 3/4 on the front and to 1/2" in rear one on each end of the driveshaft
