I know this has been hashed around adnausium before, and is a very newbie question, but I'm fawking unable to make up my mind about tire size (TSL)...I'm in New Mexico, and I play in Cruses and Farmington (plus a bunch of hidden rockin' spot's)..I'm in the process of extending my wb to 106", and am going to keep my rig as low as possible (short of completely removing the rear tub)....O'yea, I'm placing full width dana's (60 front/70 rear) and have the stock (for now) aluminum 3.9L V8 (180hp)...Did I mention I'm doing this to a LR Defender 90? :flipoff2: I don't have any ARCA plans for her right now...And I do know that there is a diminishing return after 39.5 in the rocks...BUT!! I guess I'm leaning to 42's unless those that have run 42's, and went down to 39.5's speak up, or there's compelling reasons not to... :flipoff2:

Thanks, and flame away...

After the discussion the other day, I guess I'd have to vote for the 42's. You'll probably be pissed if you go smaller at this point. Besides, I GOTTA see a D90 with 42's. I'm getting the diff on the 110 looked at next week, so hopefully I can get you a pic of the 90 with the 37's soon after that!

So what do you have that is a D80, because right now you've got a D60-D70-D90!

Well if you want to do ARCA they limit Tires @ 38 inch's tall, i think a 39, measurses out to be just around 38

I have no input to this thread that is of use to the thread starter. BUT, I -gotta- see pictures of a full width landrover on tires as large as you are talking about.

And to think i just talked the wife into putting 245x75x16's on the RRC with D90 wheels. Maybe i should have tried for 42's

Come awn, show some pics.

I thought it was 40"?!?!? If they've reduced it to 38, screw it. I'm never going to compete. It takes all the fun out of having a big rig!

What's that, four of us from the Land of Entrapment here now? One thing to check is firewall interference at full stuff/lock; the front axle is located fairly close to the cab. Easier to fix this early. I've just GOT to see this thing...

Thought you might like to see this. Ths rig competes in the Finnish offroad trials. Rides on high clearance double reduction tractor axles(Portal axles) , and I think about 44" tires.

The site did have other better picures, but the page that they were on is not working correctly.

I'm going with 39.5, but then again I'm getting the set for $600 and they only have 3000 mi on them.

Buying new? go with the 42s or 44s if you will fit.

40's are max comp tire last time I heard. For the sake of being a man about things you might as well sack up and get the 42's and just roll up to the competitions to let people oogle :D Keep a set of 40's around for competition if you like but run 42's :grinpimp:

Damn if you can afford to build a D90 you can afford 2 sets of tires :D:D:D:D
