Dual points were great in the 60's. Ditch it and get a good eletronic ignition set up.

I agree, Points are a pain in the ass.. Especially dual points.
Go Chevy HEI, I went a DUI which is teh same as a chevy hei and it made a hugh difference..
In fact I have a Electronic ignition complete with module and every thing if your interested. I came off my 304.

I am running a v6 with a Mallory dual point. It has worked great. About once a year I check the points, and they have always been good, the condenser goes out now and then, but thats it. Electronic is better yet, the greatest, until it fails. Although they may go for years without fail, try a trail fix on one of those. I know people who run Elec. with no problem, but I am old fashioned and want something that has a chance of being duct taped back together if a problem pops up.

Hence the Chevy HEI.
Only two parts to fail and both are really small..
One is the coil, smaller then a soda. Two is the module smaller then a lighter. I carry two of each. Not to mention both are really easy to find in the back woods autoparts store.

Go with the electronic ignition, and throw the points in the glovebox, for that very unlikely day. But it could happen.

I have a Mallory dual point setup. It is in the back shed, best place for it. I switched to the MSD setup, SWEET!! Spend a couple of extra bucks and get what really works.
