Do the OEM Ford 8.8 shafts (Exploder) have enough meat on the flanges to redrill to 5 on 5.5"?

I know I am not the person you asked, but I don't think the flange is large enough. You might be able to talk Warn into making you a FF kit, but it will cost you.

You can kind of see the flange here.

I'm not H8 either, but I'd like to be. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I use adapters as well.

I called Moser and they said they will do it, but it leaves only about 1/8" of metal.

I believe TJoop had his redrilled.

how much did the adapters run?

50 a piece, I got them from performance wheel in CO. These were for my wifes S-10, I don't want to use them on the XJ becasue the tires tuck perfectly. Even an extra 1/2 inch would not be good.

I guess Moser could make me a set of alloy shafts, and then I could just have the drums re-drilled. I was hoping to avoid the extra expense, but oh well.

I had Dutchman make some shafts for my 8.8 with a 5x5.5 pattern. I haven't got around to see if they can redrill the stock shafts for spares.

Guess I could mesure the flanges and see if they are the same size or close, which they have to be to fit inside the rotors. They did use a screw in stud as opposed to press in because they are so close to the edge of the flange. The head of the stud did interfere a bit with the e-brake mechanism when trying to push the shaft in far enough to get the c-clips on.

I will measure the flange and get back.

I measured the flanges. Seems marginal to me whether or not he stock shafts can be redrilled. The flanges on the Dutchmans are about 5/16" larger diameter.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks I will stop by Dutchman and see what they say.
