I've got my axles out and before I put em back in I wanted to put a nice shiny coat of paint on them to make em look pretty for about a week. I've used undercoating before but it doesn't look that great. So will regular krylon enamel hold up??

Well, if you want to be serious, when I did the rear end swap the axle was mostly bare metal when I was about ready to get it in there, and I put a few coats of krylon dull black anti-rust on it before I bolted it up.
Its held up for a year and a half, including a salty winter in New York.
I still think shiny paint would be :rainbow: so :flipoff2: to you too.

Yep I know, I'm a pretty young wheeler. Anyways, thanks for the info. I've used Rustoleum on some things and it seems to flake off really easy. Granted I probably didn't prep the surface well enough, but who cares when it's gonna hit the rocks anyways

get to a farm supply store, I've tried krylon/rustolium/ace and it all sucks ass up here (the climate is tough on paint!) only thing that sticks is farm impliment paint. My axles are gonna be BPS Agri-Systems Massey Ferguson gray. This is the only crap i've found that will stick to steel wheels, the only down side is it takes a LONG time to dry

i've been using hammerite on stuff, and once it dries it takes a beating. i've got it on my winch plate and my gas tank skid. there are a few gouges, but they are deeper than paint. otherwise, it is holding up well.

I shot my frame, axles, etc. with Caterpillar Black. Got it from my local Cat dealer and it's tough! I figured if it'd hold up on our logging equipt. it'd last on my 'cruiser.

try por 15 it comes in gloss and semi gloss and is tough as powder coating

POR 15 ended up peeling off my gas tank skid. Yes, I prepped it right with the chemicals they send. Maybe it needs some rust or irregularity in the surface to stick.
