I'm going up to 36" swampers for my Scrambler and was wondering what y'all have had to do to get them to fit. I have a 4" lift right now and really don't want to go higher on the suspension. I'm converting to TJ flares and will do some cutting there, if i do that and add a 1-2" body lift, will that get me clear of the tires? I really don't want to butcher my Scramber by doing anymore cutting than for the TJ flares (although I'm still thinking about going flat on the front). Any help and pictues would be greatly appreciated....

sounds like you have it figured out to me.

4" and cutting should be what it takes.

sawzalls are your friends. cut the CRAP out of it. go flat in front AND back. Less sheet metal is better. Plus itll make your rig LIGHTER;) :D

Extended bumpstops are your freind! most everyone seems to ignore there existing, I guess they arent considered hard core. But even if you dont care about body damage, if your tire gets into your fender it will dig in and get really bound up. I've actually seen a freind blow up the rear differential in his jeep climbing some simple dirt piles when his rear tired got really stuffed into the fenderwell.

with a 4 inch lift and tj flares you should be ok if not a 1 inch body will make the diff

thanks for the advice, I think i'll hold off on the major cutting, I really don't wanna get that hard core on my scrambler. I'll try the tj flares and bump stops and then a body lift if necessary.

On my 84 CJ-7 I ran a 4" lift (Alcan) and TJ flares with 36" Swampers and everything fit fine. At full compresion I still had full steering. Cutting for TJ's takes out much more then you are probably thinking but once the flares are on it looks really good. Just do the flares and try it. I think you will like it. If not a 1" body lift should be all you need.
