Since I'm getting the jones to finish this pig I'm taking a short cut on the new pump for a rear pan project.

I'm going make some mods on a new Melling front sump pump to work on a rear sump.

The Melling pump looks like this out of the box :

The best $$ I could find was 68.00.

I took a junk yard pump and made the mods as a test.

Step 1: Cut off oil bypass port nipple:

Step2: drill and tread the hole ( 3/8" NPT), Dill and tap 1/4" NPT hole 90 degrees to the original hole. Plug 3/8, and screw in 1/4" compression fitting for bypass line.

Step 3: tap pick up hole 1/2" NPT and insert 3" nipple

Funny, both the Scout with the SBC and my next project with the 318 have rear sump pans...I guess you can add me to the list of "Don't need to copy you":flipoff2:
