was in our police impound lot last night and popped the hood on a mid 90's ford and there was a big a$$ dual cylinder air compresser under the hood on the right side of the engine. my only 2 questions were "what were they using that for" and "hmmmmm, wonder if the cops would notice if that came up missing." i might post pics if you guys are really interested.

Ive got a 2 cylinder westinghouse compressor to put under my hood this summer, just have to put a aircon electric clutch on it, it will pump into a air brake tank off a 40' semi trailer mounted up on the chassis rail..... lots of air :)

A buddys brother is a deisel mechanic (mobile) and his work truck has a FAT v-2 comp head that runs to a 40gal tank. They use it for impacts and other misc air tools.

thanks but just pissed someone thought i was going to steal something. i'm the type of guy that will pick up a dollar and turn it in to lost and found. the impound lot is RICO, means it was drug impounded. I work along side the police and we aquire these vehicles or interesting parts or options and utilize them in the department. I have a ford one ton rescue truck that i coud put the compressor on and run my air tools for vehicle extrication instead of running it off a SCBA bottle as we are now doing. I guess i didn't give entirely enough info and someone thought i was gonna post pics of it on MY rig......i also thought someone would be interested in how in the hell you mount a twin cylinder compressor under a stock hood.
