and if not. why ?

A built Patrol (old style) would be badass.

Just don't see that many nissan rock-crawlers though. Not that I'm one to talk, driving a Scout.

i agree that there are not that many nissan wheelers as there is ford
chevy
dodge
suzuki
jeep
or toyota rigs
but how often do you see a mercedes or a land rover wheelin
i can say i have seen more nissan rigs in action than those
i personaly have a nissan and i wheel the piss out of it

The Nissan forum might be short on actual Nissan tech, since you yourself have American axles under that thing.

Merc and LR guys can use their whole rig. Like Toy, or any of the Domestic brands, all the parts are trail-viable. Not every single part, but those brands have an entry for just about every component that is worthy. Axles, xfer case, engines etc.

I don't see much aftermarket for Nissan either.

But, my dad has an extra-cab Nissan picku, and he's been wondering about souping it up some, so hey, Nissan tech might be cool.

And in most cases, in goes a Toyota axle.

and still some advice and pointers could be dished out
i know when i did mine i wish there were more pointers given to me but there are not many places to go to get them

i can think of 2 nissan guys on here...you and Bignissan...both with 44 fronts and 9" rears....interesting.:flipoff2: except he is running 39.5" TSLs

Gotta admit there's even a few more than that on the Mercedes forum...but think about it...when somebody drops the word mog, people think, "hmmmm (ponder)." When somebody mentions Nissan...well, THIS happens.

ok so mabe there are not many people who have built nissans.
mabe if there were a nissan forum the people who have nissans would nut up and build them after all it is not all that hard.
if you can use your noodle, and dont feel stupid asking questions, it would not be all that bad and mabe there would be a littel diferent variety of rigs to look at. you would also get to see what people can do with something other than a toyota or a jeep
(not bagging on either) and see some new things being done.

If I remember right, nissan's v-6 is a weak aluminum block that is fairly underpowered. it has a unique bellhousing that leads to a medium duty tranny...rear output is also comparitively proprietary. there is little aftermarket support, IFS or SFA. The t-case is average at best and makes the np231 look good.

toy axles don't work as it has a driver side diff....common swap are EB 44's for those in the know or the more common swap (same as s-10 owners) XJ dana 30.

I just bought a Nissan Xtra cab...

I don't know about underpowered... it has a lot more HP and Torque than any Toy V6 I have driven.

On the other hand... I started reading a little about upgrading and I saw some posts about "upgrading" to Toy axles...

I was like: I already have a Toy with Toy axles...

So the Nissan is my Wife's daily driver now. Leaves room for the Toy to be a dedicated trail ride. It rides nice and has plenty of power. I like my Yota better though, especially concerning this exhaust manifold stud bullshit that I am dealing with on the 95 Nissan with 68,000 miles.

I always thought that a Nissan would be cool, cause I love the V6 in my Maxima - but they don't share the same engine. Or they didn't then anyway. Too bad.

Nissan Forum would be cool one way or the other though... so

IIRC Fat Bastard had a Nissan pickup at one time that he HATED.

Ya I'd be down for an Isuzu forum. I used to wheel an Isuzu Trooper II and it took quite a beating. It was pretty bad ass untill I pulled my head out of my ass and realized it was IFS and had a whoppin 96 HP. (Maybe the Isuzu Amigos would do better.)
