I have a 10.5 14 bolt that I am wanting to put a locker in. My question is this: GM puts an electric locker in the new HD trucks in which run 14 bolts. Will those electric lockers work in an older 14 bolt?

Well unless this is a street only truck I wouldn't screw with some electric locker that just came out. I would wait and see how they hold up. GM and some of their drivtrain stuff has been questionable, stuff like 10 bolts in trucks, heater front axle actuators. electric engage transfer cases.
Now do you have a 14 SF or a 14 FF. The Detroit for a FF14 is only about $320. It doesn't get any cheaper or any stronger than that. It will give you some handling issues on the street but not that bad. The shorter the wheel base the worse it gets. It's not real bad in a K5 but you know it's there every time you turn the wheel.

I'm with Grim, no way do I want a locker by the same guy that invented the Gov Lock..............:p .............go Detroit or make it a Lincoln Locker. I've got a Detroit and am mystified about all the 'weird handling' propaganda I have read. And by the way, I live in rainy Oregon and drive my truck daily on 35" SSR's..........

I dont think the newest 1 ton 14 bolts are 10.5" therefore you would need the ~9" 14 bolt and add the locker. a detroit is so cheap for a 14 bolt just add it and be happy. less to go wrong and tried and true strength...
