: A question for all of you Binder boys!
snoop dogg 02-26-2003, 06:07 PM Ok, just a random question that i was thinking about today. Yall really fab some sweet stuff, build sweet stuff, and wheel sweet stuff, do a lot of work and lot of complicated work...Most of yall are out of college, some married...some not...most of you all have jobs, some still in college...some starting college. YALL GET A LOT DONE ON YOUR SCOUTS AND HAVE AN OUTSIDE LIFE!!!!! how do you guys do it?
Im only in college, and it's hard to work on my scout...even if it was 5 minutes away (it's 2hrs away right now). My main focus is school and should be...but i know that the ones of you that are married, your marriage comes first. And i know that making a living comes first. But like Torc, Harkinoff, Old Scout, Scout dude, Hayraker, Slipscomb, and maaaaaaaany others of yall get a sh*t load of work done and have a LIFE too.
How do you manage your time with your wife/girlfriend/school/work whatever your priorities are...how do you also get a bunch of really good work done on your scouts with that managed time???
How does it conflict with work/wife/school/girlfriend??
Do you just do it during the weekends, and when you do it on the weekends is that all you do (work on your scout)???
Do any of yall work on your scouts during the week?
I guess, when you set out a certain time just for your hobby or your scout...you just discipline yourself to not procrastinate???
well i know it's not much tech, but i was wondering how yall do it
Sully 02-26-2003, 06:12 PM you get a girl who understands wrench-time.
Even better, find one who will help.
Old Scout 02-26-2003, 06:45 PM My woman wheels and has her own rig.
Here she is on Fordyce trail during Sierra Trek. She has even rolled it over backwards.
Hayraker 02-26-2003, 07:12 PM My wife is very cool with pretty much whatever I am doing. She doesn't mind me working in the shop because that means I am home. The first few years we were married my only hobby was work, 7 days a week, so she likes the fact that I am just right outside in the shop now.
That said, I am basically a lazy bastard, I am also very busy with my day job, grad classes 2 nights a week that are an hour away, temporary part time jobs, etc. so I don't do much work on my scout until about a week before my next wheeling trip usually end up pulling a couple all nighters getting everything repaired.
As far as major projects, my buddy skeetshooter and I usually partner up on those, helping each other out. He helped me on both builds of my scout and I have helped him on a couple rebuilds of his rig. In fact we are both using a week of vacation time in March to swap drivetrains and suspension on his Zuk buggy.(60 front, 70 rear, 4.3L, auto, empty bud light cans, dual T-case, coils, etc.)
Don't worry about the time it is taking you, just peck along, getting things finished as you can. Finish the major stuff and go wheeling, finish all the little shit later, hell I still don't have a bed in the back of mine, (or rear shocks) but I had to take a break from working on it and wheel it for a little while.
uglyscout 02-26-2003, 08:14 PM ***I get jack squat done so I shouldn't respond but... :flipoff2:***
My wife enjoys wheeling and wrenching so not a problem - But even better she is a super workaholic so when she is off busy working I can stay home and play in the garage.
Also I have found that the busier you get the easier it is to get more done... I am currently a student for the second time around and I feel like I have more free time than ever before - even being married and doing all sorts of other stuff. If that makes any sense.
Also - give up TV and sitting on the couch!!! Waste your time in the garage or spending quality time with the ol' lady - and not just watching TV while she is in the same room! Do stuff when you have the time and then when you need to 'make' time for other stuff it's usually no big deal.
Scoutillac 02-26-2003, 08:28 PM The only reason I get anything done is because I'm married. I come home from work, change clothes, see the wife....then run like hell for the garage and don't come back till she is in bed, works perfect.:flipoff2:
biomechanical engineering/premed 4th year.
cant work on rig.
pat
jdjanda 02-26-2003, 09:24 PM It's all about balance. Right now family and work have tippped the scales. And my wife know's that a week before a trip I'll tip the scales to the Scout and get it ready.
JoshC 02-26-2003, 09:54 PM I include my family in my hobby. Some trips are with the boys, others are family trips. It also helps that many of my buds have families. We'll head to one guys house for a day of wrenching, then the gals bring the kids and we BBQ. It's good to live in CA. :flipoff2:
RustoleumWhite 02-26-2003, 10:18 PM I actually don't get nearly as much work on my Socut done as I wish (or all the other projects I have started/waiting/almost done......)
Like other said, ballance. I got no shop of my own, and now garage. SO on these short "winter" days, very little work cause its dark at 3!! atleast the day are getting longer again (dark at 5:30/6:00 now.. MOr eoutside work now.
For major projects, I got to take the Scout to work and mess up the warehouse for the weekend, also means blowing the weekend on the Scout... which my wife understands... sometimes.
Simple stuff gets done at home, when I have the time/energy... or am not doing one of the other million projects. Wie likes me around as well, but understands I need "truck" or "outdoor" time, as long as its ballanced with "house" time or "Jenni" time...
You need to make the time, and do what you can when you can. You also have to live with the fact that maybe you can't do the SOA right now, or build the 60's.... so you wheel what you got, and wrench when you can... you gave your whole life ahead of you....
You could always be like Snoopy and tell your wife its your job.:flipoff2:
snoop dogg 02-27-2003, 08:13 AM It sounds like balance, and working on the main things on your rig is the way to do it...
A bonus, when and if some girl ends up wanting to marry me:D , a girl that is into wheelin!!! Make it a little easier on things...but i don't think i would make that a requirement, it would just be a bonus.
Well it sounds like yall all have a way of getting things done, it's hard to get things done for me especially when my scout is not with me...AND!! When i am near the scout, im lazy with projects....I JUST NEED TO GET OFF MY BUTT AND DO IT!
well it's cool hearing all of your "methods" on how and what kind of balance you need to get things done.
happy wrenchin and wheelin
Mechanos 02-27-2003, 08:58 AM Timing.... for me it was all about the timing. It took me me several years after school to get a good paying job and get the salary up there a bit. Then I could start accumulating tools. I wouldn't have even considered doing this project 5 years ago because I didn't have anything close to the right tools needed to pull it off. Then with a failing live-in relationship falling apart, I bought the Scout. Then I could go work on the Scout instead of listening to her bitch and if she came out into the garage bitchin' I could just fire up the grinder or air chisel. :flipoff2: Spending that much time working on the Scout made it that much easier to finally kick her to the curb which freed up even more time to work on the Scout. :flipoff2: For about a year, it was just me and the dog so all I had to balance was time to go the work and a little time to walk the dog. Granted this approach is not for everyone and definately not recommended....... unless you can't stand your GF and are looking for a way to help get rid of her...:D
YellowIH 02-27-2003, 09:08 AM I used the Scout to rid me on a long term GF that wouldn't take the subtle and not so subtle hints. Now that I am married priorities (READ: MONEY) have changed. I'm lining up a garage to be built sometime soon and then things will be back as they should be....me wrenching on the Scout instead of playing with the wench. :D
She "likes" to wheel. She understands and accepts its a big part of my life. Being a newlywed changes everything too. Every year it will get cooler as the pay increases and life settles. YOu just have to make it a priority...just like everything else and its time will come.....or it will fall by the wayside unless you keep wheeling important to you.
Just like everything else...you have to try and plan it out as best you can and make adjustments along the way to correct your course.
However.....when I was single money and life revolved around the Scout. :shaking:
james west 02-27-2003, 10:39 AM i dicked around with an IFS truck for years, but when my buddy Matt (owner Independent4x.com, stupidtrooper on the PBB) moved to richmond, 2 blocks away, it made for some great new resources...i guess what im saying is its important to surround yourself with people that have similar interests.
im a full time student, work 25ish hours/week at the Home Depot, play in two bands, and spend a lot of time with the bottle...i dont have a shop to work in (w/in 45 mins. away)...and i've managed to do a SAO, full cage, and doing lockers next week (all since august)...of course i had matt helping or it wouldn't have come together...his wife even spotted the truck on the side of the road for sale!
i will admit that my grades slipped last semester when i was up to my eyebrows in getting parts and doing the soa...but i bounced back
as for the ladies...most VA girls love camping, fishing etc...so i tell them we'er going camping, and next thing they know, i'm telling them to strap on the 5-point!...its good times, but really there are lots of girls who like this shit...and i like girls, so it works out:flipoff2:
Joe V 02-27-2003, 10:46 AM Finding a woman who doesn't mind you working on your scout is not the problem. It's just like finding a woman who enjoys traveling, going to clubs, dry camping or whatever your interests are. If you're hooked up with a woman who does not share your interests - you're screwed. BTW, you will generally not find them in Nordstroms.
The hard part is finding time when there is no time, which seems to be your problem. I try to get up 1 hour earlier every morning so I can work on the scout. Even just taking measurements, making notes and doing little 1/2 hour jobs create motivation to do it again the following day. You would be surprised what you can do in just 30-60 minutes. Then when you do have a 1/2 day or full weekend do the big stuff. Going to bed late is also an option. I've spent many a weeknights till 2am in the garage.
It also helps to make a list of everything that needs to be done. That way, when you're dragging your ass out of bed, it's easier to prioritize your morning.
TERRA-IZER 02-27-2003, 10:57 AM The Bad thing is when i was away for school in Wyoming i acuttly got more done to the scout it was 3 hours away and during the week i would plan on what needed to be done that weekend, and on the weekends when i would come home i made sure to get that done and not procrastanate. Know since its here with me all the time, its hard to work on it, i procrastinate untill a few weeks befroe the next big trip. Its probely becouse all i do any more is the body paint work on other trucks and when it comes to mine its like, i will get to it tomarrow and then tomarrow becomes the next day and the next.

Sure... except for the hours you spend building stuff for The Enforcer.....
Hooper 02-27-2003, 11:19 AM Small bites.
Tuesday night, for example.
Got home from work
Took 7 year old to Taekwondo for an hour and a half.
Got home and ate dinner
Played UNO attack for half an hour
Took the older boys out in the garage with me so they could *help*. I let the younger one hold the wrench, and the older got to turn the key in the ignition while I worked on fuel problems for my white pickup. Spent about half an hour working on it.
Back inside for another game of UNO
Put the kids to bed.
Did dishes
Wrenched for an hour
Back inside for wifey time till we crashed...
But, I work 5 minutes from home, so I don't waste any time commuting. And, I have a garage, so, although it is a tight fit for the pickup, I can get it in there where it is warm and well lit. And, as long as I *balance* (balance does not mean equal amounts BTW, it means a little bit of wrenching and lots of everything else) the time, and spend some time helping keep the house clean with 3 young boys destroying it, and make sure my Honey Do list is under control, my wife usually does not get upset.. usually.
The problems occur when, like a couple weekends ago, I went over to Rusty's so he could help me setup my front diff. Told the wife it would take a couple hours, and got home about 6 hours later.
Or, went wheeling, and told her I would be home about 4, and got home at 8.... Ouch. I was in the doghouse for a week.
It is going to be even more difficult this summer, because I will have to spend so much time campaigning...

This is true, I wheeled on 33" tires and stock axles for almost a year while my 60's were sitting out in the pasture. It was tough to see them sitting there everyday but not have the funds to start using them. When I did get the money to build them and swap them in, and buy tires, etc., I still ran out of money before I was finished with everything. I just got it to the point I could wheel it and stopped. Wheeled it a few times found some weak spots and now I'm out of commission again, but I'll be back...

I am running for City Council this year. I have been on the planning commission, City Center Oversight Committee, and Council Liaison for a couple years. Some folks thought I should run for Council, so here I am. Election is this fall.
Stepping stone, really, to state office and beyond, where I can really do something about protecting our sport, and protecting our nation from idiots....

slipscomb 02-27-2003, 08:48 PM Well Petrick, I guess I'm like Torc. After a failed relationship I took all the beer money I would have spent at the bars and started wheelin to get away from people. Eventually I totally sacraficed any possibility og having a "social" life and concentrated on the Scout. I formed "The Perfect Girl" definition: meet her on the trail, , loves Scouts, maybe even owns one, and loves the outdoors. Never thinking I would EVER meet her I assumed I was off the hook. Not so. Met the girl from Atlanta on a trail ride in Poteau, ,OK and her dad owns a Scout and she just LOVES the outdoors! It was fate in the making! Well, we all know how THAT turned out. Now I'm back here in OK, single and loving it! And believe me, the Scout was A LOT LESS maintenance!
Anyway, for myself, to get where I am I had to sacrafice any kind of social life to be able to work on the Scout every night and travel for weeks at a time to events across the country. I think Jim Weed has the perfect description of "Why Scouts are Better Than Women". But then, I'm just "damaged goods".....
slipscomb 02-27-2003, 08:52 PM Oh yeah, I was trying to move the chebby 350 over to the Scout tonight to hang it and build the motor mounts and it rolled over and broke my right hand so it looks like work will be temporarily halted so maybe I will have a social life for the next few dayz. Maybe I can find a girlfriend! WOOHOO!
snoop dogg 02-27-2003, 10:28 PM that sucks to hear that sean, how did the motor fall over...was it on the hoist while it fell over?? or was it on the floor and just roll over?? Well, when spring break comes....hopefully ill make some BIG HEADWAY on just getting the suspension and the 60 and 70 rebuilt...then it's on a rolling chasis! And yall know what that means, i take over my parents garage....and the real fun begins!
Thats if i focus on school FIRST!, school gets in the way of fun...but i have to admit, there is nothing like the southern belles down here.
It's really cool hearing how yall do it and get things done, everyone has their own kind of method. Especially yall older guys that are married...
slipscomb 02-27-2003, 10:43 PM Well, I have a 4 inch rise in the concrete floor of my shop so I dropped the motor from the "picker" so I could drag it up the slope by hand, then reattach it to the "picker". Unfortunately, after I cleared the slope I was trying to slide it a few more feet to make room for the "picker" onn top of the slope and it rolled over on me. I didn't know my hand could be so many colors at once!
Yeah, bitch. I know how good those southern belles can be. I got "hooked" by one not too long ago. Just remember, they're dangerous, too! Keep it in yer pants!
slipscomb 02-27-2003, 10:45 PM Yeah, I was always the same way. School always came first. I finally graduated and really got serious about 4 wheelin.

Ouch on the hand. Fortunately, it was a light weight chebby, not an IH block, or it would be more than a couple weeks to heal.. ;)

Kind of funny about that. I hyperextended my elbow last summer and tore the ligaments. I thought that if I gave it time it would heal up. Finally went to the doctor yesterday and he gave me Neproxen, anti inflammatory, and told me no wrenching for at least 6 weeks (yeah right) so I took last night off. between the Neproxen and resting it, today is the first day in 9 months that my arm does not hurt. So, I'll give it a week off, and see how it feels after that. Should still be able to POR 15 the pickup tub though.... left handed.

Older with IH knowledge ;) Hoop, i don't think your old, OLDER as in older than me :D im only 18, young...immature...won't keep my mouth shut...and i usually end up starting stuff that is already over! What category would you rather be put in:D ?
tsm1mt 02-28-2003, 11:01 AM I don't get as much done as I want to, either.
But there's a lot to do.. Michelle and I like to see each other often, which is a big portion of time.
But then there's work (duh), school (kills 2 nights a week.. one for homework, one for class), running a 4x4 club (at least one Wed of the month is shot for a meeting).. most weeks, I get part of Wed night, and most of Thurs night to wrench.
Friday I don't usually wrench, and sometimes I'm able to get something done on Sat or Sun.
Just have to make due with what I do get.. so I have a lot of 2am nights..
I find it difficult to get anything done if I start at 6 or 6:30 and stop at 10 or 11.. it just doesn't work. Once I get elbows deep, I just keep going until 1-2am.
On the nights I can't wrench.. I try to get my shopping done. One trip to the parts store on a "wrench night" will ruin the whole momentum (ESPECIALLY if the parts store is CLOSED...)
So when I have an hour here or there I try to get my shopping done. Buy the nuts and bolts (and then some, of course) I think I'll need, any parts I need, etc. Hardware store clerks must love me coming in and buying 5 1" bolts, 5 1.5" bolts, 5 2" long bolts, 5 2.5" long bolts.. all because I don't know what size I'll REALLY need, and I don't want to come back. :D
Then on a wrench-night, I have all my pieces and parts handy and ready to go.. and get after it.
It doesn't fix itself, unfortunately.
Sometimes you need to get remotivated.. over the winter it got a little hard to get out to the shop and work on putting the racer back together.. but watch 15 minutes of racing footage (or wheelin' pics) and you quickly remember why it is you're willing to do this crap.
I've been kinda lucky having two rigs.. even when the racer's broken and I'm wrenching on it, I can still take a day and go wheelin' in my other Scout. :-) (There's a reason I haven't gotten started on the rear 60, fixing the body, or anything else.. I like having it around just to wheel when I want to)
Sometimes it's useful to remind myself how much $$$ is tied up in either of the piles of junk and I can't let myself waste it. :D I didn't spend all that money to watch it clutter up my shop..
When I built "Little Devil" I did most of the project in a week. It sucked. I hated it. Friday I had a bare tub on a frame. That was it.
Sunday a week later, I'd driven it 5' and blew the 727 up.. but it was a running/driving rig for those 5 feet..
I came home from work at 5 or so.. worked until 4am or later.. a few nights I went to sleep when I saw the sunrise.. slept 2 hours.. went to work..
Hard week. And I'd come home from work exhausted and just want to take a nap.. but I made myself crawl back into my work clothes and get back to work.
What else to offer advice about...
I like the "baby step" suggestions made already, too.
Case in point.. heater core on Tigger was dying. So I had a new one built. While I was in "shopping" mode I found an article by Steve Tucker about upgrading the squirrelcage.. since I was "in there" already, why not?
I cut my spare heater box, built the "adapter" ring I needed to fit the now-cut box, bought the new cage, etc.
So Wednesday I drove my Scout into the shop and pulled the heater core and blower box out.
Thursday the core was ready (s'posed to be ready Wed) so last night I put the new and improved heater box, blower motor, squirrelcage, and the new 2.5" heater core in, buttoned things back up, and called it a night.
Drove my Scout to work today for the first time in a month.. and with not-sweet-smelling heat.. and plenty of it. :D
Bite-size project. Two nights of actual "down time".. a few nights of "prep".. but the rig wasn't torn apart for more than 24 hours.
I could've torn out the heater core the day I decided it was getting replaced.. but that was close to two months ago, and the core was back ordered for 3 weeks or so after I ordered it..
My rig *could've* been immobile for 2 months.. instead, I left it in, and ran it when I wanted to - just didn't expect any heat - and waited on the parts.
THEN swapped it out.
Similarly, my next project is my Travelette.
Just dropped a big pile of parts off at the machine shop to have the rods resized, pistons fitted, flywheel turned, and the whole recip assembly balanced.
At the same time, I'm getting ready to put the 60 together, and I'm tracking down the last few parts like the 4x4 steering box, the leaf spring bushings, etc.
The plan is to finish the motor and have it on the stand, and finish the 60 (painted and all) and have it on the shop floor.
THEN I'll pull the pickup in, yank out the tired 345, remove the IFS, and roll the leaf-sprung 60 under, then drop the new pullin' mill in.
Keep the actual "down time" to a minimum by being prepared.
tsm1mt 02-28-2003, 11:24 AM Oh yeah...
It's ALL ABOUT THE POWER TOOLS.
.. and knowing what to save and what to butcher.
I buy a lot of parts because it's faster to break off the old than it is to try to re-use.
U-bolts.. they get one chance.. if I can't get 'em off with the impact, they come off with the sawzall or grinder, whichever is handier. U-bolts are too cheap to use the 1/2" ratchet and a cheater bar.. cut it off!
Or even better, grab the welder and burn it off.. like my spun wheel stud. :D

Bout the only thing I have learned in my advanced years is that no matter who is correct, the wife is always right, and she makes it worth my while for me to let her be.
Older than 18 is OK. My 20's were pretty hard on me for relationships, so I am happy to be through them...
SnowScoutII 02-28-2003, 01:54 PM I got luck and found a woman who loves to wheel, understands that gruage time is unevitable.....Dang im lucky, all my others just shook their head and said "Your going up that?!? Let me Out!"

It seems EVERYONE that straps into my #2 seat feels compelled to mention, "I don't feel like dying today." ALL THE D*MN TIME.
Is it me?
I keep replying, "Uh.. I wasn't planning on checking out today, either.. "
But that's not going to stop me from taking the line I've picked. :D

Others get much more work done on their Scouts than I do mine. But I think it takes patience and it takes MAKING the time for it. My wife hates it when I spend a ton of time at the shop and not at home ~ BUT if I come home at a reasonable hour and then take one day to stay late and do stuff then it goes over much better.
Plus, by this time she's as tired of not having Snoopy home as I am... I don't know about TORC, but I've been without a personal wheeler for about 1.5 years. I thick he started his build at the same time I started mine...so....
Anyway, dude ~ the grass is always greener. You are saying the same thing about us as we are about you and everyone else.

Hey man, don't rag on the Uno. I sucked at it until my wife made the mistake of telling me her secret...then I kick'd her  BAD! Oh it was great. head-to-head uno is great. Skip, skip, skip, everse, reverse, Draw-4, uno, game!
Oh yeah....
Mechanos 02-28-2003, 07:50 PM Yeah, it's been about a year and half. I hope to have done before the second aniversary.
slipscomb 03-01-2003, 01:27 AM "And is that the lady in the driver seat, er passenger seat of the magazine article, wearing a red scarf on her head? "
Nope Pat, actually that was some lady I picked up at a truck stop on the way to that event. My spotter bailed on me at the last minute because his wife was having a "lingerie" show at their house while we were gone so he decided to stay home instead. (after all, a man's got to have his priorities!) Least to say, it was all I could come up with on such short notice! It looked good at least! We were the ONLY team with a female spotter at this event so it drew alot of attention.
scoutver5.7 03-03-2003, 05:03 PM I'm wading in a little late 'cause I very seldom get on the board at home - usually only at work - but lately I've been real busy at work.
I've been married 25 years and I told my wife before we were married I don't go to bars, I won't chase other women, I could care less about football, and I'll be home every night. I told her I hunt and work on cars.
I had a built '71 Olds 442 when we got married. She wanted a Jeep, so we bought a CJ5. She would wheel the piss outa it. When the first kid came along we sold the CJ and bought a used Scout. A year later we sold the Olds and I bought another Scout. A couple years and two more kids later she traded her Scout for a Suburban. I still have the Scout.
It's very hard to find the time to work on it much the last few years. After I finished college I bought a farm where I grow about 300 acres of hay and I have a 1/2 acre peach orchard besides my full time job. Winter time is the only time I have to work on it and for the first couple years I didn't have a garage. I have a new heated garage.
Right now there is my Scout, a '68 GMC PU, a '71 Corvette, 4 engines and a whole pile of axles in work at the same time.
How do I get anything done? Slooooooowlyyyyyyyy!
I never watch TV.
I get on the net at work.
I don't get much sleep.
Finding the funds is the hard part for me. I've had to build the garage and buy new tools. I bought 2 new tractors in the last year. The house needed a new deck and carpet.
Now the wife wants to remodel the kitchen
and
my daughter is getting married in June.
Oh, well, maybe I'll have her back on the road next year.

Yep, small bites, and mods to the trucks is last on the list of priorities for money. Especially since mine is not a daily driver.

Yeah, he can, he even knows how to build an engine. He'll have another year in the Air Force and then they'll be moving back here. They'd better. My daughter is my wheelin' partner!:flipoff2:

You are going to need a wheelchair ramp for your rig pretty soon... :D :D :D :D
Marrying your daughter off must really make you feel old. Heck, my oldest son started first grade this year... and that made me feel old... :D I feel for you man. Come on, isn't there anyone on this board this old that can relate??? ;)
Actually, I think Jetfixr might be joining you in the old people's home.. :)

I admire ya Pat. Something I could never do. The Scout has been the only one who hasn't left me. I now have a weakness (or is it just a sickness?)
Can people marry Scouts?

<chuckle> Funny this thread is going on. I was in the doghouse last night. Took my oldest son to Taekwondo. Got home, grabbed a bite to eat, then had to head to City Council Meeting. Got home from that at 10:30. Oldest two kids were in bed, my 2 year old was playing on the computer, and my wife was watching some reality program, so I put on the jeans and went out to mask off the windshield, dash, etc on the pickup to prep it for painting the rest of the cab interior. Wifey came out to fetch me after about 10 minutes and let me know she was unhappy with me being gone all evening, then going out and playing with my trucks as soon as I got home. I learned long ago there is no point in arguing, and I was done masking everything anyway, so I went inside and watched the end of the silly show with her. Guess she just wanted some *us* time... ;)
So, yesterday wasn't even a tiny bite, more like just a nibble on my project.... But, since I spent a fair amount of time over the weekend *playing* I guess that is fair. ;)
I really, really did not enjoy being single. Some folks are better at it than others. I'm just not made for it.
Course, I could go on about how great it is when my kids excel at this, or that, or this or that about married life, but everyone gets tired of hearing about others' families.. ;)
Mechanos 03-04-2003, 10:52 AM Next time she's wanting some "us" time, tell her to get her jeans on and get out there and help you mask off that interior. She would probably enjoy that about as much as you enjoy watching some bullshit reality program.

Your lucky with 60 degrees!! Heck I am too much of a wimp to go out into my garage.
It's way too cold now to get anything done so I am stock piling the wife interaction time. :D I am hoping to cash it all in come spring!

Yeah, that is what I was going to say. All that wife time you are stockpiling has a very short shelf life. Within a week or so, it will have evaporated.... :(
uglyscout 03-05-2003, 10:33 AM We'll see :D I'll point her at some flowers and some dirt and I'll make a bee-line for the garage - works everytime!!
And heck by Spring she'll want me out of here and doing something else!
