Well i guess, in light of that last post that i put up....it started to talk about injuries.

Thats another thing that is cool to hear, since we all don't live in one same place....we can't "sit around our rigs (parts) and shoot the sh*t". LETS HEAR SOME BATTLE WOUND STORIES WHILE WORKING ON OUR "BEAUTIES"

The two that STAND OUT to me ( i have plenty of stub fingers, smashed fingers...same with toes, brake cleaner in my mouth:barf: ) I was working on my scout down in Auburn, ALABAMA! And i had my scout on jack stands, tires, cynder blocks...but those were on grass. Just kind of made it a little unstable, but wasn't a big problem. Well, i can't remember what days this happened on. But, i was pulling out my rear left spring and all of a sudden the whole scout just falls over...my head hits the sheet metal, but just bounces off...b/c i cut out the inner fender support, things. It didn't hurt, i actually started to laugh...b/c of it being a close call. The laughing, stopped quickly once GAS started pouring out of the filler neck! It poured ALL OVER my face, while my eyes were open...still laughing...started to turn into a loud MOTHER F*CKER YELL!!!!!!!! Well i flushed it all out with a garden hose, and i was alright except for the rancid gas smell.

NEXT DAY OR SO, me and my two buddies go to get the scout back up on blocks and jackstands. Well we get all sides up, we only have a couple more inches to raise the front left side...we end up talking, and everything goes bad from there. I can't remember if i brushed next to the DEATH "HI" LIFT, but the lever bar was down, and something happened to wear the scout fell down a notch and bar went up as fast as it could....BAM! Im out, when i woke up (few seconds) I thought one of em' hit me with it...i had no idea what happened. I do know that it hurt so bad, i wanted to cry...i managed to keep control of my self:D . Well 2 weeks later, i had a seizure..stopped breathing for 5-10 seconds about 5 minutes the seizure lasted...got 2 catscans, showed nothing wrong. 2 weeks later from that another seizure, this time we needed to really see whats wrong. I went to the neurologist...2 MRI's, and an EEG. I have a bruise on my left side of my motor strip. I had a seizure last week, and one yesterday morning. Anything that will lower the threshold of my seizures (lack of sleep, adderol, caffeine,) and BAM, im out for about 4-5 minutes shakin' and bakin'. The thing that really sucks, is that my memory from Highschool sucks!!!!!!! and IM ONLY 18. So im bummed about that....

LETS HEAR SOME COOL STORIES!!!!!!!

neither are pictures, links to scouts for sale, or asking how much peoples stuff is worth...face it, there will be tech and there won't be. You added to this thread, i hope that drill bit felt good  Should have tried a bigger drill bit. You don't like that it's not tech, well i think safety is a big part of tech...if any of this could keep someone from getting hurt...than well i think thats tech. If you don't like it, there is this thing you can do....IGNORE THE THREAD, and soon enough it will be on the 2nd page.

ROFL. Finally, something to lighten the day.

Here is some tech.

Make sure your vehicle is on solid jackstands, and the jackstands are on a solid surface.

Sorry, no significant injuries while working on my rig. I am a real baby and scared to death of the thing falling on me, so I am pretty cautious about it. Guess I am just oooollllldddddd. ;)

So, it is not high tech, buy you have to admit it is a good story... ;)

DAMN!! remind me not to let you near my rig...:flipoff2:

highlifts can be dangerous I had one spring back and bust my thumb, and I always keep myself out of the fall line if I am using a highlift...but next to you I am the safest guy in the world...:D

Hope you get better, do you still drive knowing you could "shake and Bake" at any time?

Its a DAMN good story...the gas one was better. Less painful...Heres some tech, HI liFTs sucks...don't buy them or if you do i guess get that offroad base. They do get the lifted vehicles in the air....thats a plus, but they are still dangerous.

I ran a 1/2" drill bit through my skull. It hurt, but me still thinky there no tech talk heere.

No way, would not want to take the risk of hurting someone. A lot of damage could happen in 1-5 minutes. I have been drunk once at a lakehouse, and i could barely walk...i don't know how people leave a place drunk and get in a car!!!! Being ripfaced you shouldn't be allowed on the road, and having a seizure you shouldn't be allowed on the road...both for the same reasons. The other drivers.

It does suck, and the georgia state law...where my parents live. Says that you can't drive for 6 months from your last seizure. I had my last one in October...so i was about a month away from being able to drive again. Until this past week...it's now august that i can drive. So, it's trailer for the scout (im going to have to buy one:( ) On the trails ill be alright, if i did end up having a seizure.................NO ONE HAS ANY STORIES??????

?? Sure, but so is almost everything about this sport.

I carry two highlifts.. Sometimes it helps. A lot safer to lift my rig with a high lift, than using a bottle jack and blocks of wood...

I agree with you Hoop, but i also still think they are dangerous....one of those association things. I mean if it was me that brushed up against the Hi-Lift...i barely brushed it. I just associate the horrendous pain with the Hi-Lift.

No question they are dangerous, for exactly the reasons you state. You have to be very, very aware and cautious around them, and sometimes they bite you anyway.

Here's one Patrick....

Busted a rear wheel bearing one day on the trail and limped it to a friends' house. Got a replacement and was trrying to install it in his driveway. Didn't have a race puller (actually never heard of one at the time) so I was trying to pry the race out of the rear housing by beating on it with a chisle and the chisle bounced back and hit me in my eye brow splitting it open. My buddy was still sleep so I had to just stand there and bleed on his front porch for about 15 min. before his son woke him up and said some man was bleeding on there porch! By the time I got in to clean the wound the front porch looked like someone had been murdered there!

Point: Don't use a chisle to remove a bearing race from the rear end housing!

Brand new 60 grit flap wheel on a 10,000 RPM grinder vs. left thumb (total contact time was about 0.5 seconds):

That's about the worst I've done to myself so far in that last year and a half working on the Scout.

OK I got one. I was 17 and I was helping put a bodylift on my friend's '75 Scout. The floor jack and piece of pipe wouldn't go up high enough to lift the body at the rear. Being 17 I simply put my hi lift on the spare tire carrier. Right as I was putting in the puck the hiflift spit out right upside my head. I saw stars and took a little nap on the driveway. I'm older an a lot more careful now.

Well One of my stupidest things Ive ever done was removew both rear Ubolts while underneith it! I heard a pop and the whole Truck lowered about an inch! Then I realised my stupid mistake and Thanked my lucky stars the whole thing didnt fall on top of me! Thank god i lived and am wiser from it!
My worst injury was when my bro and I took apart my 78 Travler and had the Transfer case drop on top of three of my fingers...They looked like fat sasuages for about a week...Had my hand in the air so the fingernails wouldnt throbb:flipoff2:
