: Bump Stops

As far as I have read, it seems that the springs should not flex past being flat. would the red line be the proper stop location or just above it?

thats relatively speaking...some springs are made from the manufacture as a flat spring that when it flexes it inverts...otherwise for a normaly arched spring if you cycle it past flat you will wear them out really fast...

Depends on how you view your springs, if you consider them consumable then use the bump stops to limit contact with the frame, body, etc.

basicly you just can't expect limit less travel out of a spring without accelerated wear. If it is a spring with very little arch it can safely go negative, as compared to a heavily arched spring which shouldnt go negative at all.
