Are you looking for brand or application. I think 87 or older 454 P.U. apps should work. I can't really pick a brand for you. Look for ones with thick flanges and heavier gauge tubes, They will last longer and you will have less problems with blown gaskets. You also need to be careful of the heat. Get a shield for your starter, or you may have starting problems when it is hot.

i really don't care about brand. however i want a header that places the exhaust around the frame rails. that way i can run my exhaust tucked up into the frame rails.

does that mean you want a outside the frame header? Or do you want to tuck it into the frame rail itself? If you tuck it into the frame rail it runs close to your fuel lines and electrical. They are a bit pricey but I was thinking of the Gale Banks headers for that same application(85 k5 454tbi). I think they are 5/16ths flanges.

it worked out with my '84 k5 that the exhaust fit nice up into the frame rails. it hasn't done anything to my electrical or fuel. but it has a small block. the pipes run right through the t case cross member. in theory i would love to duplicate this system.

The system can be duplicated, no problem. But, it might be kind of tight on the pass. side. In fact, if the system is still there, you can have it connected to the headers. If not, run 2 1/2 inch, or a single 3".

Depends how much yo want to spend. Make sure you get the headers for a TBI 454, the O2 sensor has to go in there. I think I priced a set through Autozone, and was little over a $100.
