I've got a 88 YJ that I just finished putting Ford full width 1/2 axles under it. At the same time I put the steering tie rod and drag link above the springs. The Jeep was spring over to begin with. Going down the highway today the rearend started to sway back and forth uncontrollably this was not translated through the steering wheel. The guys in the Jeep behind me said that the rear tires started to come off the ground while I was doing about 65 or so. What can I do to make this thing driveable again? It worked perfect on the trail. Thanks

Are they stock springs? Did you put the track bar back on?

Might want to consider swapping in CJ springs or 6 leaf YJ springs to stiffen up the rear.

The springs are stock with 2" aal. I didn't run a trackbar when I had stock axles and soa. So no trackbar. The rear shocks are really toast. I'll put some new 9000s on and hope that helps. If not, that'll be what I'll try next. Thanks.

I would put on the new shocks and rebalance your tires.

Hey RopeBurn, I had the same problem with my 90 YJ. I have diminished the body roll a great deal by remounting the rear shocks. They mount on the axel tube just in board from the spring perches, angle inboard at about 30 degrees toward the center ot the jeep to a 2"x2"x1/4" angle steel cross member welded between the frame rails just in front of the gas tank. The upper mounts are about 6" apart from each other. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, I had though about doing it that way before but my traction bar would be in the way. :( Maybe I just need more lift to clear it? :D :D
