I amgetting ready to redo the Cannondale and actually get my fat a$$ out on the trail. I am thinking of using the new Shimano XT cable disc brakes and was wondering if anyone had ha dany experience with them?:flipoff2:

I'm getting my single Speed ready for disc brakes and I can get a deal on a f/r set up so I'm wondering about them too.The one time I got a chance to try them i did like the stoping power but those things squeal like a MoFo.

I just have a few questions, do you have cannondale/Coda disc hubs as they might not fit the Shimano rotors (cannondale hubs are 4 bolt where shimano are 6 bolt). Were you thinking Shimano Deore cable disc brakes of Hydraulic XT brakes? If you're thinking XT discs then make sure you have a lot of rubbing alchohol around as you will need to wipe the rotors down frequently to stop them from squeling. They do stop very well though!
Skip the shimanos. Hayes are the way to go they run DOT fluid (not affected by temp. etc.) The shimanos are a pain to bleed and takes a while. Hayes are easer to set up more common (easer to get parts) and have plenty of power. Their service is better and are US made. If you ever ride in cold weather DOT is much better than mineral oil. ;)
Forget all of those...Go with Avid mechanical disks and be happy!
Also, sell the cannonwhale and get an Ellsworth-just kidding
The hayes are pretty good though..If you want a really good source of info on this stuff go to www.mtbr.com
-Happy trails
