what do you think is a better idea for a motor to tow/ daily drive. to stroke the 351holley pro jected motor i have now with a c6 behind it or to go buy a whole 460 or 429 drivetrain. im thinking building the motor i have would be the better option as i wouldnt have to swap motor mounts trannies t case. alot less custom to just build what i have. just wondering what your opinions are

the big block would be much happier while towing than the small block.

it prob wouldn't be any more money to buy a 460/c6 than it would be to stroke your 351W, and you can re-use your t-case.

How much towing will you be doing?

yeah but id have to buy the 460/c6 prolly have to rebuild them as who knows what condition they will be in. at least i know my tranny is good so i would just have to build the motor. i thought the torque of a stroker might be good for towing. prolly in the log run the cost is about equel. just thought with a built 351 i could get more than a stock 460, cause if i build the 460 thats even more money

Just one other option, is to get a newer truck that has EFI, or deisel, and OD. Will cost more but over all will be better choice. Right now I am looking to get rid of my 86 350 for a newer one with OD. I priced it out and it seams to be a better choice.

You may only have to change the moter. you never said witch 351 you have. If you have the 351m then the bell housing /trans is the same for the M and 429-460. But 351w and c are smallblock type. Allso for towing a jeep a351w should have good bottem end power but the C doesn't start making power until abbout 3500 rpm (real good for mud or drag but not for towing).so to me if your running a W then I would rebild it ,a C put it in a mud truck, An M use it for a boat ancor. but on the outher hand bigger is allways better!!!:D

ems it already is fuel injected with the holley pro jection kit. it is the 351w. it tows very well especially considering it has 35 inch tires and 3.55. dont worry the 4.10 are in the shed for the rear and the front is already 4.10. i would never get rid of this truck its got a rcd60 front a 10.25 rear, the pro jection works great. im sure the 4.10 will make a world of diff and maybe the motor will just need a rebuild, i was just thinking of options. truck runs great burns some oil though and the odometer says 150000+. not sure how many miles are on the motor though im sure it was rebuilt at some time.
