You puss... there's only like 10 wires there. Week before last I spent 50hrs rewiring this (this is only the bottom half)

Holy crap, I almost passed out when I saw that:eek:

I hate wires, and worse yet, I hate when you can see the wires.

Get a drill and 3/4" bit, drill through the top plate of the walls from in the attic. drop the wire down between the studs with some slack. Install wall jacks between the studs and you'll be able to do most of your wire runs in the attic, instead of in the room.

Just a thought. ;)

That makes two of us. The installers just couldn't understand why the customer was upset I mean the system was mostly functional  . I ended up running 850' of coax cable all inside of one 7' tall equipment cabinet.

Anyway, zip ties and double sided velcro are you friends when dressing out wiring. Also, a little trick that I use which makes things look real nice is old telephone handset cords. Get a couple and chop them up into 2" lengths. Then you can wrap the pieces around small bundles of wires to keep them neat.

Cukoo clock! We have one that belonged to my great grandmother. I can't wait to hang it in my house some day.

Those work well. Be sure to route your speaker wires as far from any power supplies or wiring that you can to avoid noise.;)

Another quick tip. If you have extra wire it is always best to trim it off. You should never "coil" up your excess wire as it can act as an antenna and introduce inductive noise into the system.

Really:confused: I was told that all the cable needed to be the same length, that's the reason for the coils:confused:

all electrical conductors have a magnetic field. When 2 fields are close enough they can effect each other. Not a problem for power but a problem for a/c signals, like audio or video.

Ok, while theoretically yes they should all be the same length in a home enviorment the runs are so short that having different cable lengths won't be noticable (atinuation won't be a factor). Now if you had one cable that was 1' and one that was 1000' then yes it would be a whole different story. Anything that you are going to gain by keeping your cable runs equal length you are going to loose and then some by having the cable coiled up. If you have one cable that is 5' and one that is 25' there isn't going to be a noticable difference (if you put the signals on a scope you might be able to see the difference) as long as all the wire is of equal quality.

I don't typically deal with audio stuff, I usually deal with video but all the same theories still apply.

What did you use to mount the speakers in the corners? My rear speakers look to be about the same size as yours and I really don't want to use one of those corner shelves.

I just used one of those little plastic anchors and a pan head screw;)

Even better. Mine have those on the back to. I think I am just going to use an eye hook and some small chain to mount them. I want them to point down into the center of the room to widen out the sound. Luckily for me I am on a raised foundation and have most of my cables/wires either in the attic or under the house.

Thanks for the pics.

I'm sure there is a slight difference, but $13,000 worth, I don't think so :D

Audophiles are a strange/sick breed, lol. Myself, as long as is cranks up clear and loud, I'm happy.
