Find a different shop - one that sells truck tires.
Most Discount Tire stores will be able to do it.
My guess is that the store you wnet to is just lazy and doesn't want to mess with them
Cutter 10-17-2001, 08:34 AM yep, go to a different shop...one with a large stash of weights, it'll take a bunch <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
brimy311 10-17-2001, 08:58 AM thanks guys <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

Howdy 10-17-2001, 09:22 AM Do a search in the General 4x4 Discussion area. This was discussed at length last week.
Blatant 10-17-2001, 10:31 AM Discount can do it. Depending on the tire, you'll just have to live with a certain amount of unbalance.
My 36 TSL Radials balanced nice. My 36 SX won't balance for shit.
Dion
Cutter 10-17-2001, 10:36 AM I just had a local hole in the wall shop balance my new Swamper TSL's. Mount and balance for only $10 (!), took a sheitload of weight, but the ride great.(well...for Swampers <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> )and no waiting. The Discount Tire by me takes forever <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0"> to do anything. But they DO offer sipping for ten dolla a tire...
swampintj 10-17-2001, 10:43 AM Find a shop that will apply balance patches to the inside of the tire. These will truly balance the tire. Lead weights on the wheels usually are not enough, and they get ripped off when your wheeling. Here's the link from Interco's site explaining all of it in detail. http://www.intercotire.com/html/mounting.htm
TornadoTJ 10-17-2001, 11:32 AM You also have to deal with the fact that bias ply tires flat spot. Could be this instead of balance. Swampers are really bad about it.

So they have enough weight in them to balance 36" swampers? Did you just need 2 for the front or 4? Oh yea what did they run ya?
brimy311 10-17-2001, 05:38 PM these are radials not bias ply.... <IMG SRC="smilies/eyemouth.gif" border="0">
